Modern Chemistry Drops Brilliant New Single for Star-Making Record, ‘Everything in Gold’
New Brunswick’s Modern Chemistry premiered “Everything in Gold,” the title track off their full-length record of the same name, on Substream yesterday. The album is due out on July 7 and is produced by Paul Leavitt (Have Mercy, The Dangerous Summer). This is the band’s fourth release, and they will be hitting the road with Taking Back Sunday, and Every Time I Die in the summer to promote the album. That’s not before a headlining gig at Asbury Park’s House of Independents on July 8.
As a single, “Everything in Gold” is a brilliantly crafted song that has a tremendous build up to and explosive, and emotional crescendo. It’s a track that can easily find its way onto any mainstream alternative rock station, and be hailed as one of the most outstanding new songs the station is playing.
Simply — this is a star-making single. It’s the type of song that’s going to get the eyes of the masses on these three young dudes from New Jersey. It has this quality that grabs you from the opening and you experience the rollercoaster of emotions the band has jammed into the tune.
We’re extremely proud of the band. We’ve literally watched this band grow up from having two original songs and doing a legitimate 15 minutes cover of The Outfield’s “Your Love” to becoming a tight band who has evolved their sound into something beautiful.
(For transparency’s sake, lead singer Joe Zorzi was a staff member of Pop Break’s for years. Guitarist Brendan Hourican was a contributor for a year. We gave the band their first show at The Wonder Bar in Asbury Park.)
We’re not heaping praise upon the band because we know them. We know plenty of bands. We have staff writers in bands. We’re friends with loads of people in the music world. If a band is doing something great, we’re going to say. If they aren’t, we’ll say they aren’t.
Yet, there’s something special here with the guys in Modern Chemistry. The songwriting, the musical composition, their presentation — everything is pointing towards something big. “Everything in Gold,” is a must-listen song and trust me when I say, in the very near future we’re going to see Modern Chemistry as one of the “it” band in the scene.
