The fourth annual Asbury Park Surf Music Festival (presented by Hi-Tide Recordings) rode a big wave into town this weekend with activities beginning on August 24 and continuing until August 27.
The Festival started Thursday with a cocktail hour at the Asbury Hotel and continued with a concert by surf rock great, Dick Dale at the Wonder Bar.
Festivities continued Friday with an Aloha cocktail reception at the Asbury Hotel, followed by a beach sweep with the Surfrider Foundation, and ended with a pre-festival party at the Anchors Bend.
Saturday was the main day of the festival bringing a day of food, drink, sand, sun and great surf themed music to the Anchors Bend beach. The cast of musical talent included: The Reefriders, The Televisionaries, Great White Caps, The Surfrajettes, Slowey & The Boats, Black Flamingos featuring event co-Producer Vince Minervino on drums, Aqualads, The Fathoms and the Grammy-nominated Los Straitjackets as the event headliners.
Saturday also featured an old school twist competition and a surfboard giveaway sponsored by the Surfrider Foundation, with all proceeds benefiting foundation. Visit the Surfrider Foundations website at www.surfrider.org for info on their cause and how you can get involved.
I seriously enjoyed my time at the Asbury Park Surf Music Festival, the combination of perfect weather, music, food, drink and a crowd totally out for a good time made this truly an event to remember! I’m already looking forward to next year.
Props and a big congratulation to event producers Vince Minervino and Magdalena O’Connell on a wildly successful event filled weekend, see you next year! Keep up to speed on the Asbury Park Surf Music Fest on IG @apsurfmusicfest, Twitter @apsurfmusicfest and on the web at www.apsurfmusicfest.com
