Over the summer The Pop Break caught up with Tom Cavanagh, who stars as Harrison Wells, on The CW’s hit series, The Flash. The series has been one of the flagship shows for network’s surge in popularity along with other DC properties like Arrow, and Legends of Tomorrow.
Now, Cavanagh has one of the most unique characters on the show because he’s had the most versions of the character. When we first meet Cavanaugh’s character, we are introduced to him as the man behind Central City’s S.T.A.R. Labs Particle Accelerator. He is also a mentor to Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen. It’s later revealed that’s the Reverse-Flash, The Flash’s arch nemesis. It turns out Wells’ identity was stolen by Eobard Thawne (Matt Letscher), the actual Reverse Flash. Cavanaugh has also portrayed various dopplegangers of Wells in various alternative realities like the sarcastically brilliant Harry from Earth-2, or H.R., the Earth-19 sci-fi writer.
Cavanagh has also stepped behind the camera, directing the season three episode “The Once and Future Flash.”
Cavanagh is no stranger to the world of TV — he’s starred in the cult NBC comedy Ed, short-lived series like Love Money and Trust Me, as well as regular roles on Scrubs, and Providence.
Here’s what Mr. Cavanagh talked to our staff about…
*What version of Wells we’ll see this season
*Which version of Wells he enjoys/enjoyed playing the most
*Will we ever see a drag queen Wells
*If there were a hero Wells what kind of hero would he be
*Is HR the closest Wells incarnation to his own personality
