Who’s ready for the virgin jokes?
Chris Harrison reveals that they’re at a live Bachelor viewing for the premiere, which is interesting because they don’t usually do the live shows until the end of the season. They cut away to Chris Harrison’s mom, who is at a different live Bachelor viewing party, and she informed us all the Chris has always had an impeccable taste in fashion.
They then cut away to Crystal and Chris (Goose) who were in a hot tub, which was apparently just outside in the parking lot. There were even interviews with some of the live-viewing crowds a woman was wearing a phenomenal shirt that said “On Mondays we drink wine and watch women cry in limos” which is a shirt that I need in my life.
First Looks at the Contestants
Cassie, 23 – California – Speech Pathologist
She is a surfer and works with children as a speech pathologist.
Hannah B., 23 – Alabama – Miss Alabama
She admits to being a hot mess. She also refers to herself as Alabama Hanna.
Katie, 26 – California – Medical Sales Rep.
Trying to be a dancer. She aspires to have a love like her parents. She is very athletic and hopes that can be a connection that she has with Colton.
Heather, 22 – California
She has never kissed anyone and is also a virgin. She said she can see herself having her first kiss with Colton.
Onyeka, 24 – Texas – IT Risk Consultant
She thinks she’s a lot to handle. She is also into fitness and is a firm believer of “when you know you know.”
Nicole, 25 – Miami – Social Media Coordinator
Her family is her world. She has a brother with Autism and he means everything to her. She can tell he’d be welcoming of her family if he got the chance to meet them.
Kirpa, 26 – California – Dental Hygienist
She hopes Colton flosses. She has a loving family from different backgrounds.
Demi 23 – Texas – Interior Designer
Considers herself a country girl. Her mom is in federal prison for embezzlement.
A Look at Colton as the New Bachelor
The first few scenes that are shown are of Colton shirtless under an outdoor shower, then shirtless while working out. There’s a one-on-one with him and Chris Harrison, and Colton admits to being nervous about the experience. Colton talks about how when he was younger he was a bit heavier and nervous around girls. He gained popularity in high school because of football which was so important to him. He then got into the NFL and played on the San Diego Chargers.
They recapped him falling in love with Becca last season. They also showed when he got sent home. He’s excited for this opportunity and knew he was a controversial choice, since some people questioned his manhood because of his virginity. They end the interview of Colton with a shirtless shower scene of him.
Limo Entrances
Colton is looking good in his classic navy-blue suit, white shirt, thin black tie.
Demi meets him first. She’s wearing a pale-yellow dress and references that he’s a virgin. Great start.
Tayshia was next and mentions that she’s excited to meet him and get to know him. She was in a beautiful silver gown.
Heather wearing red dress and mentioned that she was so excited to meet him Nicole was wearing a vibrant green dress. Speaks to him in Spanish and says, “Half of my heart is in Havana and hopefully my other half is with you.”
Caelynn comes out wearing a red dress as well as Miss North Carolina sash.
Sydney was wearing probably my favorite black dress of the night. She’s an NBA dancer and admits to leaving her job so that she could be on the show.
Elyse comes out wearing a bright blue dress, talks to him about how she’s nervous.
Tahzjuan comes out in a beautiful emerald green dress and mentions how Cassie was wearing a floral white dress mentioning that he had butterflies, literally. She had a box with fake butterflies that she dumped out because she said she didn’t want to have butterflies anymore.
Kirpa meets him and says that she thinks this will be fun. She’s in a purple sequins dress. Caitlin had a balloon that looked like a cherry and she popped it. After popping it she said, “Now that I popped your cherry we don’t have to talk about your virginity anymore.” Colton says that she thought it was an apple.
Courtney brings a peach because she said she’s a Georgia peach.
Katie does a magic bit about taking his V-card. I wish we didn’t see this bit on all of the commercials for this episode, because it is a great bit, but I wasn’t surprised by it when I saw it.
Alex D. comes dressed as a sloth and approaches him while saying “I… heard… you… take… things… slowly…” The bit gets old pretty quickly, but it’s fun.
Onyeka helps him pronounce her name. She’s in a stunning silver diamond dress.
Erika has a bag of nuts because her last name is McNutt. She wants to give Colton an easy way to remember her name.
Hannah B. comes out in a black sequin dress and talks about where she’s from. She jokes that she’s from Alabama, not Arkansas, which was funny because that’s where Tia was from.
Tracy pulls up in a cop car and refers to herself as the fashion police. She checks out Colton’s outfit and gives him a thumbs up.
Angelique talks about her glittery dress because it gets everywhere.
Colton compliments Devin’s dress.
Revian speaks mandarin to him and calls him a stud muffin.
Nina spoke to him in Croatian.
Alex B. was sick, so she brought signs to send a message and tell him
Bri comes out with the Australian accent. She admits that it’s a fake accent.
Laura is wearing a red dress and mention she’s from Dallas. She’s wearing the same dress as Heather.
Hannah G. is wearing a beautiful gold dress. She got Colton a gift which was an empty box and said it was his favorite brand of underwear.
Annie talks football with him.
Jane brings him a picture of his dog and Photoshops her dog with his.
Catherine pulls up in a stunning red outfit. She brings her Pomeranian. She gives him her 10-year old dog. As a dog owner myself, I couldn’t imagine just handing my dog over to a stranger.
Erin pulls up in a Cinderella style horse and carriage and walks out wearing a Cinderella-blue dress. She left her shoe behind and mentioned that she was looking for her prince charming.
Cocktail Party
All of the girls are so anxious about meeting him. Colton comes in and gives the girls a bit of a pep talk and talks about how he’s going to be open and honest with them. He said he hopes one of them will end up being his wife and after he says that, one of the girls in the back of the room was fanning herself.
Demi grabs him first and asks him about himself. They talk about dogs and things he likes. She feels that Colton is personally attracted to her. Erica asks him why he’s still a virgin. He mentions that growing up it was a conscious decision. His personal life took a back seat and now that he’s at this point in his life, he doesn’t want to blow it. He’s waiting for the right person. Colton is bouncing around the girls and struggling with the names, but he seems to be having fun. Caelynn (Miss North Carolina) is the first girl that Colton kisses this season, and he’s the one who went in for the kiss. The sloth girl gets revealed and she’s stunning and wearing a burgundy dress. The girls joke about how she talks really fast for a sloth.
Then the drama starts.
Catherine talks with him a little bit about her dog and what’s important to her, they seem to be having a good conversation. But, like any Bachelor episode, another girl (Tracy in this case) came up to steal him away for some of his time.
Well, apparently Catherine didn’t appreciate that because after not too long, she went and stole him back from Tracy. After seeing that happen, Onyeka decided to step in and steal Colton away from Caterine. After all of that happened, Colton was eventually talking with Caitlyn and Catherine stole him away again.
With that action, Catherine has become the established villain of the season. Onyeka pulls Catherine away and talks with her about how her stealing Colton isn’t a good look for her. She said that Catherine should give the other girls a chance and respect them all. They are talking fairly calmly but you can see the claws are out. Catherine says to Onyeka “If you don’t have haters, you’re not doing something right”. And they did a cheer and seemed to come to an understanding. But, not too long after that, Catherine stole Colton away from Tayshia! As it happens Colton says, almost in an exacerbated way, “Fourth times a charm”. After Tayshia goes back inside, she mentions what had just happened to the girls and they go into an uproar. The best way they could handle this is if they leave it up to Colton to notice that Catherine is being disrespectable to the other girls.
Cassie sits with him and teaches him some ASL. She teaches him phrases like “You’re cute” “Rose” and “Kiss”. Colton was speaking with Katie and he leans in and kisses her. As the night goes on, some of the girls get nervous because they haven’t had the chance to speak with him yet. Colton walks into the room and grabs the first impression rose and gives it to Hannah G. He said that she had a good energy and reminded him of home. They then lean in for the kiss.
Back to the Bachelor viewing party, they do a Chris Harrison tribute video. It’s great because you get to see the young Chris from Season 1 and all of the bloopers and growth of him within the seasons. The best part of the compilation was the part where they showed all of the clips of him saying “This is the last rose of the night”. After the video was done, Chris Harrison was a little misty-eyed and it reminded the Bachelor Nation why Chris Harrison is great.
