Lee is worried about Jim “Cowboy-ing off” all the time, saying he won’t be happy until he sacrifices himself. She’s right to be worried, because Jim is shot by a Sniper while at Penguin’s place to propose a cease fire. Ironic, of course. Obviously we know Jim will pull through, but in his near death state Jim goes through a series of hallucinations featuring a trial, the boy from haven, and several villains from over the years. It’s very comic book-esque and fun.

Meanwhile, Bruce and Selina’s date is interrupted by Ivy who hypnotizes everyone from Bruce to Lucious. She even hypnotizes Victor Zsasz, who is later revealed as the shooter. The fun part about this (aside from everyone being gaga for Ivy) is the easy bonk on the head cure reminiscent of old comics and tv shows. I had to laugh at that, but at the same time appreciate the homage this show pays to the old comics.

This led to a very epic fight scene between an Ivy controlled Bruce and Selina which was actually really cool. Stellar choreography here as they always get the varying character fighting styles perfect. Man, I hope the rumors of a Bruce Wayne spin-off are true.

Elsewhere, Harvey takes charge and takes out the hypnotized Zsasz in a full body armor meets hazmat type suit. It’s fun to see Harvey take charge in this one as he does everything he can to help his dying best friend. And as you may have already guessed, his partner does indeed pull through.

When Jim comes to, he whispers something into Lee’s ear and we are immediately shown a flash forward of one month later. Harvey is presiding over Jim and Lee’s Wedding! This is a beautiful scene at GCPD with lots of smiles and kissing. Bruce even lays one on Selina. For a moment, you forget that Gotham is in termoil and has been abandoned by the outside world.

If only we could have a happy ending for once, but we’re reminded that Barbara Kean is going to leave Gotham (On a submarine!) with Jim’s child. Nevertheless, we only have THREE more episodes of Gotham and i’m already having trouble saying goodbye to this epic season. Gotham we’ll be back in two weeks. Same Bat Time. Same Bat Channel.
