Kim Quatro, a trans woman, and Kim Dantzler, who is bisexual, are two best friends who consistently can’t seem to catch a break — despite doing their best as inter-dimensional bounty hunters. But they’re so close.

In Issue #1 of the series, The Kims finally find themselves with the opportunity for a big-time bounty that could be the solution to all their problems, but it’s anything but easy.

Aboard their flying van, The Contessa, the Kims not only have their work cut out for them with this bounty, but Kim D’s ex-girlfriend, Laz, is only here to make matters worse.

As a series, Kim & Kim is a cyberpunk, action story with sprinkles of love and betrayal. Very Cowboy Bebop-esque, is probably the best description I can make. And if it reminds me of a show as amazing as Cowboy Bebop, that’s saying something.

The comic pulls no punches when it comes to representing the LGBTQ+ community. Kim Q and Kim D, our the main characters, are front and center, in your face and unashamed, the entire time. It’s the kind of comic the LGBTQ+ community deserves.

Series author Magdelene Visaggio is a trans woman, but more importantly, she’s an incredible writer, and the immaculate art by Eva Cabrera with vibrant colors from Claudia Aguirre bring both of these kick-ass women to life and make this series a genuinely fun and enjoyable read.
