NWA Powerrr Episode 6, ‘More Questions Than Answers’

NWA Powerrr

Jim Cornette and Joe Galli announce that Eddie Kingston & Homicide (aka Outlaw Inc) will be facing the NWA Tag Team Champions, The Wild Cards (Tom Latimer & Royce Isaacs) in a title match in our main event. This segues to David Marquez’s guests, the men synonymous with that title, Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson, The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express! They’re back from appearances in New Japan Pro Wrestling and AEW and they are fired up for Outlaw Inc! Kingston and Homicide come out and return their admiration for the Rock n’ Roll and the confidence they’ve instilled in them.

Trevor Murdoch vs Caleb Konley

“Styles make fights” is the old adage and it rarely fails.  It’s easy to call Caleb Konley, “the smaller quicker man,” and he is certainly athletic but whenever I hear “X moves so well for a big man and it’s impressive” I want to direct them to Trevor Murdoch’s matches thus far.  The big Texan manages to weather Konley’s stomps and moonsaults to deliver a number of big slams and finish it with a top rope bulldog!

Your winner by pinfall… Trevor Murdoch!

A recap plays of Aron Stevens’ loss by consecutive 2-out-of-3 pinfalls to Ricky Starks last week before Joe Galli calls in Stevens as his guest. Stevens comes out in his pirate tunic and … oh dear lord! No … wait … those are his trademark nude trunks but damn if that’s not a hilarious rib on the audience. Stevens announces that he is no longer involved in the NWA, professional wrestling, or the “hellhole” of Hotlanta. The crowd cheers this decision and Stevens misquotes Shakespeare on his way to confirm his upcoming role in “Shogun of Malibu.” I’m genuinely invested here as I’d hate to see him go for any length of time so soon.

Marti Belle & Thunder Rosa vs Crystal Rose & Brooklyn Creed

Last week, Marti Belle joined Thunder Rosa in attacking her former best friend, NWA Women’s Champion, Allysin Kay.  Today they team up to positively decimate Rose & Creed. Thunder Rosa’s hard-hitting style is on display and a double stomp from the top rope seals it up.

Your winners by pinfall… Marti Belle & Thunder Rosa!

At the podium, Thunder Rosa seems to enjoy unnerving David Marquez by encroaching on his personal space.  Marti Belle explains that she joined up with Rosa because she saw a future more compelling than her past. Thunder Rosa cuts a promo mostly Spanish promo that pokes fun Marquez’s weight, describes visions of a phoenix and, threatens Allysin Kay.

A video package is played again for The Question Mark but this one promises that we’ll see him tonight!

Legit commercial plays for fan event, The Big Event, in Queens (NY) this weekend with NWA World Heavyweight Champion, “The National Treasure” Nick Aldis, announcing that he’ll be there with The Ten Pounds of Gold.

A replay of Colt Cabana regaining the NWA National Title from James Storm last week is shown, as well as a behind-the-scenes interview/rant with an angry James Storm who may be looking to move past the National Title and challenge Nick Aldis. Colt Cabana tells David Marquez how happy he is to hold the title again. During this celebration, Ricky Starks comes out to circle around and take a look at Colt’s belt and let him know that there is more competition than Storm and gold definitely fits his fashion profile.

“D-man” Dan Parker vs The Question Mark

The lanky but proud Canadian does his best to take it to the masked man but Question Mark’s size and a hellacious underhand throat chop sends him packing.

Your winner by pinfall… The Question Mark!

A really compelling video package is played announcing what appears to be an upcoming documentary, “Thunder Rosa: Into the Cage.”  It shows Thunder Rosa (Melissa Cervantes) training with American Top Team in preparation for her MMA debut with Combates America. She has been said to look impressive in a decision loss and she certainly seemed to be taking the training seriously.

Joe Galli brings up the mystery of Kamille’s silence and the controversy surrounding her and Nick Aldis’ involvements with the various title pictures.  This prompts Eli Drake to come out to David Marquez’s podium to talk to ya. He expresses the idea that, if she spoke, Kamille might just let it slip that Eli Drake is the top threat to her employer’s NWA World title. As Eli Drake talks about Kamille, Wild Card comes out and Tom Latimer lets him know to keep his mouth shut abut what’s “his business.” Drake doesn’t see how it involves Latimer but Royce Isaacs reinforces the sentiment. As the tag champs back away, Ken Anderson sneaks up behind Eli Drake. He never has any problem talking … or fighting. He lets Eli know that he’s ready for either one and all he has to do is say the name.

Billy “William Patrick Corgan” Corgan comes on to thank the fans for their overwhelming support.  He wants us to sign up for the NWA email list not just for ticket info for their live tapings and upcoming PPVs which are selling out fast but for a very special upcoming announcement that involves the NWA’s next step in their evolution. Promotional consideration paid for by Tony Falk’s Wrasslin’ Farm! For only $15,000, he can clone you a heel or babyface to take home with you! Just call that 555 area code number today and tell them that Uncle Tony sent ya!

Joe Galli’s guest at the podium is NWA World Champion, Nick Aldis. When asked about James Storm’s ideas of a conspiracy involving Aldis and any title challengers, the champ reminds everyone looking for what they “deserve” that the NWA, the wrestling business, and the champion himself owe them absolutely nothing.  He’s the champion and the NWA is where it is because he does things the right way. In fact, he’s going to sit ringside during the Tag Team title match to ensure that there are no shenanigans and that things are done the right way.

Outlaw Inc vs Wild Card (c) for the NWA Tag Team Championship

This is a hard-hitting affair.  Wild Card uses their size and strength advantage (especially in the case of Latimer) but Kingston and Homicide manage to hang tough with them with street brawling and pure grit while managing to match Wild Card in technical abilities at times.  Despite a little double teaming behind the referee’s back, there’s no outside interference or foreign objects at play when Wild Card hits a power bomb and Isaac’s Hush Money suplex to put away Eddie Kingston to retain.

Your winner by pinfall and STILL NWA Tag Team Champions… Wild Card!

After the match, Kamille comes out with some sort of issue about the match and Nick Aldis tries to calm her down.  James Storm has something to say, too, but Wild Card gets out of the ring to cut in line. Eli Drake and Ken Anderson aren’t about to let talking go down without either one of them being involved. The Dawsons want to get in the tag champs’ faces. Colt Cabana is out for some reason. While everyone argues amongst themselves, Nick Aldis dismisses Storm and Drake and walks away, seemingly chuckling.  What just happened? Or didn’t happen? And why? That’s right. More questions than answers.
