NXT 12/4 Review: Bask in the Glory of Keith Lee

NXT 12/4 kicks off with Killian Dain saying his opponent, Damian Priest is a no-show due to injury. As he demands a fight he get the bruiser of bruisers, The Bruiserweight Pete Dunne.

Really good match to start the show, live audience hot for this one Dunne gets in a lot of offense, and I had been curious if this would be the start of this slimmer, all-new Dain. Lots of great back and fortm you can tell they are lacing into each other with some serious hard hits. Interesting finish, Dain counters a sleeper by falling backwards, and hold Dunne for a three count. Surprise finish, but as I think about it, makes sense, as Dunne gets a loss, but by clever tactics. Killian Dain defeats Pete Dunne.

Undisputed Era is out, minus Bobby Fish. Cole speaks of their dominance, but that is interrupted by who I think is the most dominant wrestler in NXT now, Keith Lee. He talks about setting sights on a title match in the near future. Cole demands respect, and Lee clobbers him. Tommaso Ciampa arrives to brawl. Later on, we see Dominick Dijakovic arrive as a third team member for tonight’s main event.

Bask in the glory!

Shayna Baszler defeats Xia Li

Love Xia, I really do, but she was out of the element here. Match went longer than anticipated with Li scoring some big signatures, but inevitably, Baszler forced a tap out.

Kassius Ohno is back. Promotes World’s Collide.

The Forgotten Sons defeat Leon Ruff and Adrian Alanis

Jobber squash match. Meh.

What was supposed to be Dakota Kai vs. Rhea Ripley turns to be more than meets the eye. Ripley brings out Mia Yim, surprise! That’s not all folks, during the match Baszler and her cronies storm down, choking out Ripley. We later find out Baszler will defend the NXT Women’s Championship on the 12/18 NXT episode.

Matt Riddle defeated Kassius Ohno

No offense, but we’ve seen this, and despite the crowd being hot for Riddle, I was not feeling the same about the match. Riddle winning was the right move, but did we need this match?

Kushida vs. Cameron Grimes

Raul Mendoza was the original opponent, but a face-vs-face wasn’t going to happen tonight. Kushida defeats Grimes with a sneaking roll up. Good match for Kushida to make a return, Grimes is cooling off a bit after a big push, but I don’t think this is the last we’ve seen of him.

Keith Lee, Dominick Dijakovic, and Tommaso Ciampa defeated the Undisputed Era

Wham! This was a hell of a match to close NXT 12/4. Keith Lee is the fastest monster truck I’ve ever seen. He’s agile and damn he’s wrecking anyone in front of him. Lots of tagging throughout, giving equal time and allowing a flowing, even pace. Finn Balor showing up towards the end, causing a bit of chaos had the crowd roaring, and it seems he is playing the loner role for now. Despite the chaos, Lee powerslams Cole for the team victory. After this great match, William Regal announces a triple threat for next week, Balor vs. Ciampa, vs. Lee, with the winner facing Adam Cole for the NXT Championship on 12/18, AEW’s last episode for the year 2019. WWE smells blood.

NXT 12/4 Episode is currently streaming on the USA website, and will be on the WWE Network Thursday night.
