Pop Break Live: Tove Lo at The Fillmore in Philadelphia, PA
Swedish pop star Tove Lo played The Fillmore in Philly on February9. The singer-songwriter is touring in support of her critically acclaimed album Sunshine Kitty, released in September. She started turning heads in 2014 upon the release of her platinum-selling debut, Queen of the Clouds, which included the big hit “Habits (Stay High).” Her sound generally runs the gamut of electro-pop, synth, dance and indie. Known for her brutally honest raw lyrics, its no surprise that her newest release is getting fantastic reviews.
Tove Lo started off her set with the female empowerment anthem “Glad He’s Gone.” She followed that with the catchy “Bad As the Boys.” At times it felt like the venue was transformed into a dance club, complete with flashing lights and thumping beats. She danced around in circles on the beautifully blue lit stage on “Shifted.”
Tove Lo is known for her seductive performances and this night was no different. She was writhing around on a dimly lit stage on “Influence” and on “Talking Body” there was … the boob flash! Her chemistry with this crowd was just crazy.
One of the highlights of the night came on a high octane version of “Jacques.” There was a lot of dancing and jumping around by the audience on this one. Some of the slower stuff that stood out was the angsty breakup song “Out of my Mind” and a piano version of “Moments”.
Tove Lo started off her three song encore with the glittery pop song “Sweettalk my Heart.” The audience then screamed every word on “Habits” her first huge hit that made her an international star. The show closed with Bikini Porn, her newest song.
