TV Break Podcast #11: The Mandalorian’s Return, Live Sports Ratings on the Decline & More

Pop Break’s Television Editor Alex Marcus is joined by editor-in-chief Bill Bodkin, and TV Columnist Josh Sarnecky to talk about the happenings in television.

Here’s the format of the show:

The Best Thing I Saw on TV Last Month – Alex, Bill, and Josh talk about a show/episode/event they liked from the last month including Netflix’s The Great British Baking Show; Amazon’s Truth Seekers; & CBS All Access’s Star Trek: Discovery.

News Break – Alex, Bill, and Josh discuss the surprising news of a sharp reduction in ratings for ALL of Live Sports on TV and what factors may be behind this new trend. For more information, check out The Hollywood Reporter’s coverage.

Streaming Wars – Alex, Bill, and Justin pick a streamer they think “won the month” based on new shows airing/upcoming shows announced etc. Bill & Josh decided Disney+ won yet again thanks to the start of The Mandalorian, the recent news about Soul, and their great Halloween offerings as well as the news from late last month of their focus on streaming. Bill also puts over Netflix’s October with the releases of Hubie Halloween, Haunting of Bly Manor, Queen’s Gambit and the second installment of Unsolved Mysteries while also getting series Oscar talk with Mank and The Midnight Sky. However, Alex chose a fresh entry into the war by selecting IMDbTV after they announced a partnership with Judge Judy.

Series Spotlight – Alex, Bill, and Josh break the rules to review the Season Two premiere of Disney+ Original The Mandalorian.
