Aaron and Josh Sarnecky are here for their latest movie podcast. This month they’re chatting about Wayne’s World for its 30th anniversary.
Wayne’s World is a comedy directed by Penelope Spheeris, based on the Saturday Night Live sketch of the same name. It opened in theaters on February 14, 1992.
The movie is about Wayne (Mike Myers) and Garth (Dana Carvey), two goofballs with a public access TV show. Scheming to steal the show is a sleazy producer named Benjamin (Robe Lowe), who also has his eyes on Wayne’s girlfriend, the rocker Cassandra (Tia Carrere).
Wayne’s World was well received and made $183 million on a $20 budget. It spawned a sequel the following year.
Josh and Aaron talk about the movie’s plot, characters, and comedy. They also talk about how it compares to other SNL movies.
