AEW Revolution 2022 Predictions: A ‘Revolutionary’ Start for All Elite Wrestling

Written By Kimmy Sokol

AEW has had a strong start to the new year, from signing Keith Lee, opening back up the forbidden door and most recently buying ROH. It is almost hard to believe that this weekend is their first pay-per-view of the year with all the ground breaking news that has happened within the last three months. With 11 stacked matches, title implications, and more surprises coming here are my Revolution 2022 predictions.

Hook vs QT Marshall: Hook has definitely proven that he is a major star in the making. Debuting in December Hook has been undefeated and has become a fan favorite, even becoming the #1 best selling shirt on Pro Wrestling Tees. This match is a nice opener to the pay-per-view and an easy win for the fan favorite.

Winner: Hook

Leyla Hirsch vs Kris Statlander: The fact that there are three women’s matches on this card shows how diverse this women’s division is and how in depth this roster is. These two have been feuding for a while and I am happy they are getting the pay off at a pay-per-view even if it’s on the buy in. The interesting factor in this match is a possible debut, in Marina Shafir. Shafir has been shown on AEW Dark a lot over the last several months and I can definitely see her getting involved in a post match beat down siding with the “legit” on Leyla Hirsch. Tinfoil hat theory aside, I see AEW’s favorite alien picking up the win.

Winner: Kris Statlander

TBS Championship: Jade Cargill vs Tay Conti: Tay Conti getting back to back pay-per-view matches is a huge deal. Since signing with AEW she has definitely become a fan favorite and you are now seeing how everything just connects in the ring for her now. She truly loves what she does and is grateful for every opportunity given to her. Jade has been undefeated since being in AEW and although she claims to be “that bitch” on screen, she will be on the losing side for the first time in her career this Sunday. Conti needs this huge win and as she will bring some new excitement to the TBS championship.

Winner: Tay Conti

Andrade El Idolo, Matt Hardy, & Isiah Kassidy vs Sammy Guevara, Darby Allin & Sting: This match is certainly interesting. This is Andrade’s first pay-per-view match for AEW and he is going up against the monster team of Sting Allin and Guevara. I am disappointed that the TNT title is being defended Friday instead of Sunday, I always believe all titles should be defended on pay-per-views especially when you do four a year. For this match however, when the icon steps into the ring he hardly loses and this weekend that start remains.

Winners: Sammy Guevara, Darby Allin & Sting

Tag Team Championships: Jurassic Express vs The Young Bucks vs ReDragon: This match is more about the feud between the Young Bucks and ReDragon, than for the tag team championships. The Young Bucks and ReDragon feud goes back all the way to their ROH’ days. Since ReDragon has resurfaced they have been feuding with the Young Bucks as Adam Cole has sadly gotten in the middle of his four best friends. This is the match that should open the pay-per-view as these six men can never put on a bad match. For the continuation of storyline purposes; I see the brothers picking up a win and then losing to ReDragon at Double or Nothing.

Winners: The Young Bucks

Bryan Danielson vs Jon Moxley: This is the match we were supposed to get at Full Gear, but due to Moxley’s rehab stint, we get the match four months later in a much bigger way. With Danielson hinting at them starting a faction and training all the younger guys I can really see them doing that. The winner of this match comes down to if this faction is going to be a heel group or a babyface group. Unfortunately, for Moxley, the “American Dragon” will definitely be kicking in the former “Lunatic Fringe” head this weekend.

Winner: Bryan Danielson

Chris Jericho vs Eddie Kingston: When this feud first started I was not that excited because of the contrasting style between Kingston and Jericho, but when they both got on the microphone I suddenly became intrigued. These two definitely know how to talk, whether it’s Jericho playing Kingston as a indy guy who shouldn’t have made it or Kingston claiming Jericho should have stayed in WWE. This really is a toss up, but I feel as if Kingston needs the win more than Jericho as Jericho can bounce back from a loss easily.

Winner: Eddie Kingston

Face of the Revolution Ladder Match Keith Lee vs Wardlow vs “Powerhouse” Will Hobbs vs Ricky Starks vs Orange Cassidy vs Ethan Page/Christian vs TBD: With the participants alone this is going to be a killer match. Between Keith Lee’s debut, Shawn Spears or MJF possibly costing Wardlow, Team Taz taking over the whole match not even including the TBD. To me the TBD should be a ROH wrestler especially with the announcement on Wednesday with Tony Khan buying ROH. I can see the TBD being ROH’s champion Jonathan Gresham. For a winner there’s a lot of different ways you can go, for me it’s either between Keith Lee or Ricky Starks. Ricky has everything in his power to be a top star, but lingering neck issues may get in the way of that. For Keith Lee this is his first non squash match in the company, which I can not see him losing. All Elite Wrestling is set to be limitless for sure.

Winner: Keith Lee

Women’s Championship Match: Dr. Britt Baker vs Thunder Rosa: Personally I have gone back and forth in choosing a winner for weeks. I think Britt deserves to hold the title for a year and has done an excellent job so far with her championship reign. On the flip side, it truly is Thunder’s time. She has done so much since her last match with Baker, which she did pick up the win over the dentist in their famous lights out match. I would have this match as the main event given the history and how much is going into this match as a whole. I think Jamie Hayter costs Britt the title and we finally get Britt Baker vs Deonna Purrazo for the ROH Women’s Championship.

Winner: Thunder Rosa

Dog Collar Match CM Punk vs MJF: Once CM Punk came back to AEW, fans were anticipating the promo wars between Punk and MJF. This story has been incredible especially with MJF’s highly emotional and relatable promo last week against Punk. If we are finally going to split up MJF and Wardlow I see Wardlow screwing over MJF and give Punk the win and much needed retribution from the two loses he had against MJF in Chicago.

Winner: CM Punk

World Heavyweight Championship: Adam Page vs Adam Cole: The Young Bucks Adam Page saga continues. The Young Bucks gave Page the sign of approval when he beat Kenny Omega for the title at Full Gear, which hinted at ascension in The Elite. While Kenny Omega is still recovering, I am in full belief the Double or Nothing main event will be Kenny Omega vs Adam Cole for the World Heavyweight Championship and full control of The Elite. Although it is sad to see such a short reign from AEW’s favorite cowboy, it makes sense for Cole to win here and have Adam Cole and The Young Bucks hold all the gold in AEW.

Winner: Adam Cole

AEW Revolution 2022, airs this Sunday March 6th exclusively on local pay-per-view providers, Fite TV, and Bleacher Report.
