A NEW TWIST

Big Brother Season 24 Week 3 begins …

Following Pooch’s eviction, Julie informs the houseguests they will be playing in pairs moving forward (their Festie Bestie). If your Bestie wins HoH, you’re automatically safe for the week. However, instead of nominating two individuals, the HoH will nominate one set of “besties”. An interesting twist that might make the HoH reconsider who they put up. If their target’s “bestie” is someone the HoH doesn’t want to risk going home, they might need to reconsider their plans.

The veto competition will also be played by sets of besties. If the veto is used, the pair are BOTH removed, and the HoH would then have to nominate a new pair. On eviction night, the pair will be broken up and someone will be sent home. We don’t know what will happen to the surviving houseguest yet, but the smart bet is that they will be safe for a few weeks until the bestie twist is over.

GET LIT

The HoH competition will not only crown a new Head of Household, but it will determine each of the pairs of Besties. It is essentially a game of musical chairs. Players must stay in one spot, holding on to a button while music is playing. When the music stops, the players must let go of their button and take a seat. The slowest person (or the first person to release their button before the music stops) will be eliminated. Once they are eliminated, they must choose if they want Jasmine (outgoing HOH) to be their bestie, or they can take a seat at an open table, and someone who gets eliminated in a later round can choose them to be their bestie.

Terrence is the first eliminated, and he takes an empty table. Brittany and Joseph get eliminated and also sit by themselves. The first person to pair up is Michael, who throws the competition to sit next to Brittany. Taylor is out next and grabs another empty table. Monty is eliminated and chooses to sit next to Joseph. Nicole goes out and chooses Taylor as her Festie Bestie. Daniel throws the competition to take the last empty table. Kyle is the next one eliminated and must choose a Bestie, and he chooses Daniel. Alyssa is eliminated and chooses Indy as her Festie Bestie. The contest is down to Ameerah and Turner, and Turner pulls it out! Ameerah picks Terrance, meaning Jasmine is Turner’s bestie, and she is safe for the week as well.

TAKING A BIG GAMBLE

The “besties” pair off to discuss their strategy for the week. Most people seem to like who they are teamed with. Po’s pack is well spread out, as are the “Girl’s Girls”, so the two major alliances should be safe no matter what. The day goes on as normal until Indy and Alyssa are selected as the “have nots” for the week. Indy breaks down and gets very upset over this, painting her in a really ugly light. Terrance, Kyle, and even her own “Bestie” Alyssa all think this is a bad look for Indy, and she may have just made herself a target.

Meanwhile, Nicole has learned nothing from last week. Her plan is to have Michael and Brittany go up on the block, and have Taylor and herself get back-doored through the veto. Nicole is convinced the person who survives eviction night is going to get some kind of special power or advantage, and she wants it. The logic is there, but there’s just one problem…PAWNS GO HOME! Don’t take my word for it, Nicole, just ask Pooch. Oh wait, you can’t because he got evicted after wanting to go on the nomination block next to Taylor. Sound familiar? Nicole is playing a very good game, but this is an extremely risky move that could definitely blow up in her face.

The Po’s Pack guys (Monty and Kyle) convince Turner that this is the right move, and Turner ends up nominating the pair of Michael and Brittany.

BRO TIME

Monty, Kyle, Turner, and Joseph are having some bro time in the HoH room, and it comes up again that the girls are likely working together. They know the one girl that’s truly on the outs with them is Taylor. While she has rubbed a lot of people the wrong way, she could be a very valuable asset to the guys in order to start chipping away at the “Girl’s Girls”.

In looking at who is the deepest entrenched in the girl’s side of the house, the group consensus is that it is Ameerah. While she is in the “Po’s Pack” alliance, the guys from that group feel like her true allegiance is with the girls, and not with them. Spoiler alert, they are correct. The best move might not be to put up Taylor and Nicole, but instead put up Ameerah and Terrance, and take Ameerah out if they have the numbers.

MISUNDERSTOOD MISS MICHIGAN

The game of Big Brother is littered with irony. As fate would have it, Nicole and Taylor are selected as the third pair to play in the veto competition. Nicole struggles with this, because she hates throwing competitions, but is willing to do it so she and Taylor can be the replacement nominees. Little does she know Turner has had a change of heart and now wants to backdoor Ameerah.

In dealing with the thought of having to throw a competition, Nicole breaks down and starts crying, not telling anybody why. Several of the houseguests assume it is over Nicole’s mom, who is currently undergoing treatment for cancer. Taylor empathizes with Nicole and tries to comfort her. Nicole says that she’s a fighter and will continue fighting no matter what. Taylor says “Yeah, but if it’s too much and you need to tap out, that’s ok too.”

This was a sincere moment from Taylor who was just trying to tell someone else “it’s ok to be vulnerable and place family over the game”. Nicole doesn’t take it this way and thinks Taylor is being passive aggressive toward her, when that’s not the case at all. Daniel makes incredibly rude remarks toward Taylor and says he blames her for Paloma quitting the game and now Taylor is trying to do it to Nicole. That is completely unfair and untrue. For the second time this season, people are hating on Taylor and not believing her when they absolutely should. It’s hard not to feel bad for Taylor in this game.

THE LEFTOVERS

The power of veto competition is a team effort. The duos must work together to build the “Woodstack” sign. One person is running and getting the puzzle pieces, while their partner is raised into the air to assemble the puzzle in the air. Before the competition even starts, Jasmine, henceforth known as Calamaty Jazz, passes out. First a twisted ankle, now passing out? This girl is a bit of a mess.

So the contest is between Brittany and Michael, who desperately want to come off the block, and Taylor and Nicole, and Nicole wants to throw the contest, so you can imagine how this played out. Brittany and Michael win easily. After the contest, Monty, Kyle, Turner, and Joseph talk to Michael, Taylor, and Brittany about the new plan to go after the girls. Brittany is technically a “girl’s girl” but she feels very excluded from the group. Taylor is public enemy #1, and Michael is in the crumbling Po’s Pack alliance with Monty and Kyle. Everybody seems to be on board with this new alliance, appropriately named “The Leftovers” and it’s a group that could easily make it down to the final 7 if they actually stick together.

BLINDSIDE #1

The first blindside of this week comes at the veto ceremony, where Michael and Brittany take themselves off of the block. Turner then drops the hammer and says his replacement nominees are Terrance and Ameerah. He is still coy with his reasoning, saying that he doesn’t talk game with either of them, and he knows the house wants Taylor gone, but that’s not what’s best for his individual game. Ameerah and Terrance are stunned, but not as much as Nicole, who was fully expecting to be on the block with Taylor.

Kyle, Monty, and Michael do a brilliant job pretending to be surprised by the nomination. Giving credit where it is due: This season might have the strongest group of people who can convincingly lie to your face when they are the guilty party. Even the Mormon is a great liar!

Later, in the yard, Turner, Joseph, Taylor, Terrance, and Michael are talking and Ameerah sees them and puts the pieces together. She even goes so far as to say “It’s the weirdest group, just like all the people who are leftover.” She said the name of the secret alliance!

BLINDSIDE #2

Despite the nomination blindside, the girls still believe they have Michael and Kyle on their side, and therefore have no reason to worry this week. They believe Po’s Pack will stay strong and Terrence is on board. Nicole is so confident, in fact, that she reveals to Terrance that she was a cop for 10 years, thinking that he will be leaving the house the next day. If this blindside gets pulled off and Terrance stays, I can’t wait to see that conversation.

Come eviction night, Ameerah is still in the dark about the blindside about to come, as is Nicole, Alyssa, Jasmine, Indy, and Daniel, who ironically voted against Ameerah in order to give Terrence a “sympathy vote.” Luckily for Daniel, it wasn’t the deciding vote, as Ameerah was voted out 7-4, but that’s still an extra kick in the shorts. Those girls and Daniel were genuinely shocked, and Alyssa’s jaw was hanging open as Ameerah got up to say her goodbyes and head out the door.

During the exit interview with Julie Chen, Ameerah admits she felt pretty comfortable in the game and thought things were going too smoothly. She figured Michael might have turned, but was very surprised by Kyle, Monty, and Brittany.

After the interview, Julie reveals what is going to happen to Terrence now that his “Festie Bestie” has been eliminated. Everybody gathers in the living room, and Julie informs them that Terrance gets the power to choose which group of besties he would like to join. They will now be a trio and will compete together, but also could be nominated together. However, if that happens, only one of the trio will be evicted. Terrence stands up and, on the spot, decides to join Monty and Joseph.
