Love Is Blind Season Three, despite its efforts, ultimately proves that love is not blind and is mostly a complete trainwreck.
The third season of Netflix’s hit reality series was majorly anticipated, but this season truthfully hit a wall. A lot of the episodes dragged on and the excuses people came up with were hard to watch. Even though plenty of deep conversations are attempted, it all feels a little bit bland.
From nearly the beginning, it was clear which couples would get engaged and then say “I Do,” and also which would struggle (even after getting married). The predictability in a sense took away a bit of the fun and excitement, because even the drama and the romantic moments were fairly obvious.
Matt, for instance, was upset over many things Colleen did and threatened to leave, whereas Bartise and Cole called other girls “smoke shows” and “10/10” to their fiance’s faces. Then, the reunion special shook things up when it showed that Zanab didn’t necessarily tell the whole truth about interactions she and Cole had, and people like Bartise weren’t held fully accountable for their actions.
But most of the drama takes place off the screen, even now after the finale has premiered. There are fights between exes via Instagram stories, negative comments being thrown around by the cast and fans alike, cheating rumors in the air, you name it!
Overall, this season felt hard to get through. Sure, it’s a fun thing to throw on in the background. But most of the boring spells were just couples with little chemistry interacting with each other and throwing in snippy or awkward comments. The couples that did get along were nice, but it would certainly be hard to fill ten episodes with Alexa and Brennan cleaning out a closet. Matt and Colleen seemed to be the most skippable, and their dynamic – along with others like Zanab and Cole’s – almost felt forced once they entered the real world and didn’t live in their pod fantasy. And when it came down to it, a few cast members this season seemed to place a lot of emphasis on looks immediately after exiting the pods.
It’s nice to see Raven and SK giving this another shot because, by wedding day, they seemed to understand each other a lot and be relatively compatible, even if we didn’t get to spend much screen time with them. But even they have many rumors circling them after the season three finale, which may not be super shocking for fans of the show at this point.
Though it definitely struck reality show gold, Love is Blind has become very tainted with petty drama, and it’s increasingly difficult to believe anyone actually cares about one another. That said, this is why it makes the perfect reality TV formula. These shows require deceit and drama, and the cast and crew certainly delivered it with the latest installation. The question is: is it entertaining to watch?
The answer is, not really.
