Don’t Forget Previous Episodes!

Best Lead & Supporting Actors: In this episode, Matt and Marisa return to talk about the boys.

In the Lead, they worry about the Brendan Fraser situation to the point that Marisa does a heel turn on Austin Butler.

In Supporting, they surprise each other with their takes on the boys from The Banshees of Inisherin and wonder if anyone could possibly beat Key Hu Qu

Best Lead & Supporting Actresses: In this episode, Matt and Marisa talk about their favorite categories — the actresses!

In the Supporting Actress category, they discuss the rapidly changing narrative for predicting who will win and list some of their favorite performances of the year in their alternates. In the Lead Actress category, they break down the Andrea Riseborough controversy and pray for a Michelle Yeoh win.

Best Original & Adapted Screenplay: In the adapted category they relish the chance to praise Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, hype up Top Gun: Maverick once again and put their weight behind Sarah Polley’s work with Women Talking. In the original category, they use The Fabelmans to once again worship last year’s West Side Story, Marisa argues Tar’s epilogue ruins the whole movie and Matt suggest The Banshees of Inisherin is Martin McDonagh’s best work.

Best Original Score & Song: Matt and Marisa continue their breakdowns with a double feature of some of the most unhinged categories — Best Score and Song. They complain (again) about All Quiet on the Western Front‘s many nominations, dissect the Diane Warren of It All and Marisa teases the dark evil that is her Spotify Wrapped playlist.

Best International Feature: Matt and Marisa go around the world to focus on Best International Film for today’s second episode. They complain once again about All Quiet on the Western Front, discuss the shocking twist of Close and Marisa goes to bat for The Quiet Girl.

Best Documentary Feature: Matt and Marisa continue their category breakdowns with Best Documentary Feature. In the episode, they talk about being devastated by A House Made of Splinters, marvel at the footage in Navalny, and offer up another movie that could have earned a nomination.

Best Cinematography: Matt and Marisa discuss one of the bigger technicals: cinematography. They discuss their surprise over Bardo and ponder what Empire of Light is doing here.

Best Hair & Make-Up, Costuming: Matt and Marisa talk two more technical Oscars! In Costuming they delight over Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris, and marvel at Ruth Carter’s fashion forward work in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. In Makeup and Hairstyling they lament the battle of the fat suits.

The Shorts: This episode Matt and Marisa continue their category predictions with a perennial favorite — the shorts. Once again, they were able to view all of this year’s nominees thanks to the lovely people over at ShortsTV. You can catch their presentation of the shorts categories in select theaters starting this weekend.

Predicting Production Design & Best Animated Feature: In this episode Matt and Marisa continue their annual tradition of breaking down every category with a double header. First, it’s Best Production Design — they discuss Babylon’s hedonism, Elvis’s maximalism, and Marisa fixates on the proverbial clay pots of Avatar: The Way of Water. Then they discuss Best Animated Feature — they lament having to watch yet another Pinocchio adaptation, they praise the sweetness of Marcel the Shell with Shoes On and wonder if The Sea Beast was created by AI.

Predicting Best Sound & Visual Effects for 2023: Matt and Marisa kick off their annual tradition of breaking down every category with a technical category double header. They ponder over All Quiet on the Western Front’s multiple nominations, gush over Top Gun: Maverick, and once again express their love for The Batman.

The 2023 Oscar Nominations Reaction: The noms are in and Matt & Marisa are discussing the surprises, the snubs and the lightning fast campaign of Andrea Riseborough.

The Returns of the Golden Globes, SAG Nominations & More: Marisa and Matt discuss the utterly baffling return of the Golden Globe Awards, what the SAG (Screen Actors Guild) Awards mean for the Oscars nominations, plus they catch up on a number of films including Avatar: The Way of Water.

The 2022 Oscar Season Opener (Season 5 Premiere): In the episode Matt and Marisa discuss: Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Jordan Peele’s Nope, the remake of All Quiet on the Western Front, Cate Blanchett’s turn in Tàr, Steven Spielberg’s The Fabelmans, Martin McDonagh’s The Banshees of Inisherin, the Palm D’Ore winning film Triangle of Sadness, The Woman King starring Viola Davis, and the mega popular Everything Everywhere All At Once starring Michelle Yeoh.
