Calling all punk and emo fans in Southern California!
A music festival curated by Ohio legends Hawthorne Heights is coming to Orange County, and it’s just one of many stops on a truly unique punk rock tour specifically designed for fans who grew up with emo and punk music in the early 2000s.
California Is For Lovers – one iteration of the Is For Lovers tour that kicked off earlier this summer with stops in Lake Tahoe, Utah, Colorado, and more – will take place on Saturday, August 26th in Silverado and feature an incredible lineup of classic punk, emo, and alternative acts. The lineup will include 16 acts across two stages and features Alkaline Trio, Thrice, Hawthorne Heights, Sleeping with Sirens, Bayside, Thursday, Atreyu, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, and many more.
The festival offers plenty of entertaining activities for fans in between sets, including food and drinks from local favorites, a marketplace with local businesses and creators, and even meaningful charities to support. There will also be a coffee booth managed by both Hawthorne Heights and a local coffee shop in a unique partnership. The actual festival grounds will be at Oak Canyon Park in Silverado, a spot that sits by a local lake and plenty of tall trees for shade.
Hawthorne Heights’ JT Woodruff and his bandmates chose Orange County specifically for this festival stop, explaining, “It’s easy to choose Orange County, California as one of our favorite places in the entire world. The OC epitomizes California culture for us that live in the Midwest. Some of the best fans of any genre flock from all over the world to what seems like another dimension, just to experience a punk/emo/hardcore show in Orange County, and that’s exactly why it’s for Lovers.”
Woodruff also claims, “As you step into our time capsule, you can ‘MySpace Your Face’ at a make-up tent while watching punks getting soaked in the dunk tank, as you hear the soundtrack of your childhood fill the wonderful landscape of Orange County. What may seem steeped in nostalgia is really just a snapshot of who you have grown to be in 2023.”
Produced by Brew Ha Ha Productions – the makers behind another OC favorite fest, Punk In The Park – California Is For Lovers promises a lineup and musical experience that can’t be missed. For older fans who miss the days of Warped Tour, and for younger fans who are just now discovering emo-punk staples from the early 2000s, California Is For Lovers brings rock legends to Orange County.
