Did I really wake up at four o’clock in the morning on Saturday to watch this show?
Yes.
Did I regret that later on Saturday? Yes!
However, with big surprises planned and Wrestlemania matches to be determined on this show how can you not? Now was it worth waking up at four on a Saturday? Let’s determine that together shall we?
Elimination Chamber Kickoff:
WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships: Kabuki Warriors (Kairi Sane and Asuka) vs Candice Lerae and Indi Hartwell: Hartwell received a standing ovation upon her entrance and got “Let’s go Indi!” chants minutes into the match. This was a great way to kick-off the show with one of Australia’s own being involved even though she did not get the win. Kabuki Warriors retain and will head into Philadelphia WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions.
Winners: “And Still” Kabuki Warriors (Kairi Sane and Asuka)
Main Show:
Women’s Elimination Chamber Match: Bianca Belair vs Raquel Rodriguez vs Tiffany Stratton vs Liv Morgan vs Naomi vs Bianca Belair: Stratton was the most popular and impressive person in this match. Do not be surprised if she is the one to win the Money in the Bank contract later this year. As far as the rest of this match goes, it was awesome. It was shocking that Naomi was the first eliminated, especially since she just came back to the company a month ago, but it is indeed “Tiffy Time.” Morgan eliminated Stratton next after Stratton hit a huge Swanton Bomb off the top of a pod, the Australian crowd was not happy. Belair then eliminated Rodriguez after hitting the Kiss of Death, which led us to our final three who let’s be honest were the three favorites going into this match. After going at each other for 10-plus minutes, Morgan eliminated Belair with a Roll-Up, and immediately after Lynch hit the Man Handle Slam to get the win! Fantastic match, go watch this one.
Winner: Becky Lynch
WWE Undisputed Tag Team Championship: Judgement Day (Damian Priest and Finn Balor) vs New Catch Republic (Pete Dunne and Tyler Bate): This match was a little too long for my liking. Dom Dom started the match by saying all hail the Judgement Day, but the boos were so loud that you could not hear him. He also got sent to the back because he interfered and stopped Bate from getting the win. Balor hit the Coup De Grae on Dunne to get the win, and Judgement Day retained.
Winner: “And Still” Judgement Day (Damian Priest and Finn Balor)
Grayson Waller Effect: Theory greets the Aussie fans by saying their food is terrible and he had a Bloomin Onion from Outback Steakhouse instead. Waller came out to huge cheers and did a shoey with UFC’s Tai Tuivasa followed by him leading an “Aussie Aussie Aussie” chant. Waller also had the line of the night when he introduced Cody Rhodes and said the American school system failed him because he does not know how to finish a story.
Seth Rollins starts by saying he has an inside scoop and explains that he is days away from being medically cleared and he will be ready for whoever wins the Chamber match later. Rhodes says he is a fan of The Rock, but to be the people’s champion he has to be around the people. Rhodes lays out a challenge for The Rock one one-on-one anytime anywhere. Rollins says when facing the Bloodline you are never alone, and he will be there supporting Rhodes when the match takes place. Theory then does his best Rock impressions until Rollins and Rhodes take him out.
Men’s Elimination Chamber: Kevin Owens vs Bobby Lashley vs Logan Paul vs Randy Orton vs Drew McIntyre vs LA Knight: This was the match that CM Punk was supposed to be in and the match he was supposed to win to give him his Wrestlemania moment. In the early moments of this match, there were CM Punk chants, as McIntyre mocked him with the Go to Sleep. It is also worth mentioning that on commentary they said that Owens rarely does chokeslams in matches, but yesterday he met a Make-a-Wish kid whom he promised to do a chokeslam for in the match. Paul and Owens immediately went at it and then Lashley delivered a huge spear to Paul through the pod. McIntyre delivered the first elimination to Lashley by delivering a Claymore kick.
When it looked like Knight was going to eliminate McIntrye AJ Styles came from nowhere and attacked Knight with a steel chair. McIntyre took advantage and eliminated Knight, looks like we have that Mania match confirmed. Orton eliminated Owens by delivering the RKO to give us our final three. Orton then delivered another RKO to Paul to eliminate the U.S. Champ, now we are down to do. It is also worth noting that Orton was holding his back a lot in this match-up, since he got recent back surgery you have to wonder how much pain he was actually in. Orton hit the RKO on McIntrye and as he was celebrating Paul knocked Orton out with the brass knuckles for McIntrye to get the win. Looks like we are getting Paul and Orton at Mania which should be a great match. This was a good chamber, but it was slow at times and things did not click, the women’s was better.
Winner: Drew McIntyre
Elimination Chamber 2024 Main Event: WWE Women’s World Heavyweight Championship: Rhea Ripley vs Nia Jax: Home town main event! They showed Ripley’s family in the front row beaming with excitement that Ripley was in the main event and you can tell from the second she walked out there she was fighting back tears. She had a custom jacket with the Australian flag on it and it is also worth noting that commentary did not comment over Ripley’s entrance they let her have her moment. As far as the match goes it was nothing special, but that was not the point. Ripley won with the Riptide as she celebrated in front of over 50,000 people.
Winner: “And Still” Rhea Ripley
Overall: Did I think this event was worth waking up at four in the morning for? No. Although there were good things on the card and being able to see Waller, Hartwell, and Ripley in their home country was nice to see nothing truly stood out on this card. We are six weeks away from Wrestlemania, and we are on that bumpy road so buckle up next time we predict a WWE show will be our biggest one of the year.
