A Farewell to the Icon: Team Bill vs Team Kimmy AEW Revolution 2024 Predictions

Now, let’s be honest here, I (Kimmy) was not even alive for the prime part of Sting’s career. However, I was here for TNA Sting and AEW Sting, and I was able to work with him on the convention scene in May of 2022. I will also be in attendance this weekend for the Icon’s last match ever and one thing is for certain, I will be beating Team Bill this time.

Much like The Icon himself — win, lose or draw this will be a great night for me as a wrestling fan. I get to see the final match of the man who served as my gateway into my deep fandom of pro wrestling. Having seen Sting for the first time in 1989 at Clash of Champions VIII, I realized there was more to the wrestling world than just WWF. Sting lead me to follow WCW, ECW, Global, AWA, USWA, World Class, Ring of Honor, the indies from around the country, British Wrestling, Lucha Libre, death match wrestling and strong style from New Japan. Thank you, Stinger.

Zero Hour:

Julia Hart and Skye Blue vs Kris Statlander and Willow Nightingale:

Kimmy: Bummed that the TBS Championship is not being defended on this card, but with rumors of Hart being injured, this tag team match makes sense. This feud has been going on for a couple of months and to me it is a bit dragged out and I would have rather seen Ruby and Angelo vs Saraya and Zak Knight. Regardless, Statlander and Nightingale will win this one.

Winners: Kris Statlander and Willow Nightingale

Bill: The win will go to the House of Black here. We need to see more miscommunication between Willow & Stat with Stokely Hathaway. Why? I believe this will lead to Team Long Island to “firing” Big Stoke which will then allow for Stoke to bring in his super team of Megan Bayne and Kamille Brickhouse to rumble with Willow & Stat.

Winners: Skye Blue & Julia Hart

Bang Bang Scissor Gang (Austin and Colton Gunn, Jay White, Anthony Bowens, Max Caster, and Billy Gunn) vs Private Party (Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen), Satnam Singh, Jeff Jarrett, Willie Mack, and Jay Lethal:

Kimmy: This whole feud is a slap in the face to Jay White in my opinion who should be in a huge singles match this weekend instead. Regardless, Jeff Jarrett’s crew is going to win this one to set up the feud to combine both trios titles. Which will break my Ring of Honor heart more than it already is broken.

Winners: Private Party (Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen), Satnam Singh, Jeff Jarrett, Willie Mack, and Jay Lethal

Bill: Team Last Outlaw is going to defeat the BBSG here after miscommunication allows for Jeff Jarrett to hit The Stroke on someone (likely Max Caster) for the Big W here. While my colleague thinks this to be a slap in the face of King Switch (despite having a world title shot and a hell of a Continental Classic run less three months ago), I believe this is the beginning of his and BCG’s run as hot heels in BOTH Ring of Honor and AEW.

Winners: Private Party (Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen), Satnam Singh, Jeff Jarrett, Willie Mack, and Jay Lethal

Main Card:

FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) vs Blackpool Combat Club (Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli)

Kimmy: A rematch from their time-limit draw last week on Dynamite. In my opinion, whoever wins this match is going to be the first team to challenge the newly crowned AEW World Tag Team Champions. I think the BCC needs this win a little bit more, they have been on the losing side of things lately in AEW, Wheeler’s court date is coming up in May, I believe AEW wants to see how that pans out before they decide what to do with FTR for the rest of the year.

Winners: Blackpool Combat Club (Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli)

Bill:  I will agree with young Kimothy here that given the unknown status of Cash Wheeler, that the Blackpool Combat Club will win here and then go on to face whomever holds the tag team gold. This is going to be an absolute show-stealer.

Winners: Blackpool Combat Club (Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli)

All-Star Scramble Match: Lance Archer vs Powerhouse Hobbs vs Wardlow vs Chris Jericho vs Hook vs Brian Cage vs. Magnus vs. Dante Martin :

Kimmy: Well, this is a change of plans. The winner of this match gets a shot at the AEW World Heavyweight Championship, which will probably take place on an episode of Dynamite in the next couple of weeks. Given Wardlow’s promo last week I believe he has to get the win here, only to come up short in his title match, whenever that may take place.

Winner: Wardlow

Bill: Part of me wonders if Magnus even makes it to the match — he’s a superunknown here and I could see him getting jumped and being replaced by either the Blackpool Combat Club or someone who wants to take his spot. That someone? Maybe Rush. Maybe some new to AEW. Who’s to say. Regardless, the easy answer here is that Mr. Mayhem gets the Big W here, and goes on to face the World Champion — but comes up victorious.

Winner: Wardlow

TNT Championship: Christian Cage vs Daniel Garcia:

Kimmy: Smiling big for my friend in this one. No matter if he wins or not, this is a big test for Garcia to prove why he is going to be a big star in AEW this year. This match can go many different ways, but Garcia has some friends of his own to help come to his aid just like Cage has. Cage and Copeland are due to have a third match, but you do not need the TNT title to be involved in that third match. Also, it is truly time to restore the feeling of the TNT Championship and put it on a young talent who is trying to make an impact. Or as Garcia told me at World’s End “I want to fight for everyone who loves AEW, it’s not just for myself, I want to fight for everyone who loves it as much as I do”.

Winner: “And New” Daniel Garcia

Bill: Adam Copeland is not going to sit at home in the Carolinas while one of his all-time favorite wrestlers (Sting) retires AND his former best friend has a match. The Rated R Superstar will return and get involved in this match and will help even the odds for Red Death. This will be a huge showing for Garcia as the crowd is firmly behind him.

Winner: “And New” Daniel Garcia

Will Ospreay vs Konosuke Takeshita:

Kimmy: So this is a match that is happening on the card. There is no way Osprey is losing in his official AEW debut, even if he is wrestling his fellow Don Callis family member. I am going to assume that after this match Osprey is going to turn on the Callis family and turn babyface and set his sights on the AEW World Heavyweight Championship.

Winner: Will Ospreay

Bill: It’s sad Kimmy is not excited about this match just because Ospreay and Seth Rollins had a Twitter beef years ago. This not only will steal the show, but also could be match of the year. These two are going to tear the entire Greensboro Coliseum down. “The Aerial Assassin” will continue his winning ways in AEW.

Winner: Will “By God” Ospreay

Continental Crown Championship: Eddie Kingston vs Bryan Danielson:

Kimmy: Look guys, I found our ROH Champion who has not been on the show since December of 2023. Pain, this is pain. Whoever wins I just want them to bring the world title to Thursday Nights where it belongs. Since Danielson seems to be wrapping up his career this year, it would be nice to see him get one last run with the ROH World Heavyweight Championship, but he does the right thing and puts Kingston over.

Winner: “And Still” Eddie Kingston

Bill: In the final year of his full-time AEW contract, “The American Dragon” Bryan Danielson will take win his final title — “The American Triple Crown” aka the Continental Crown. He will win this and he will take it around the world and defend. He’ll defend it in Japan, Mexico, the UK and the States and make this title mean so much. But what about Eddie Kingston? He’s going to get his pound of flesh aka a handshake from Bryan Danielson, because the stipulation is “win or lose” hands must be shook. Eddie will then go on to feud with The Young Bucks.

Winner: “And NEW” Bryan Danielson

AEW Women’s World Heavyweight Championship: Toni Storm vs Deonna Purrazzo:

Kimmy: I believe one of Purrazzo’s friends will be returning in this match to help her fend off Mariah May. I mean doctor’s orders right? Unfortunately, I do not believe Purrazzo is getting the win here, and I believe a Mone talent will be the one to take the title off of Storm later this year.

Winner: “And Still” Toni Storm

Bill: It pains me to pick against a Jersey Girl, but I must. Toni Storm retains here, as the eventual feud will be Jamie Hayter and Toni Storm. In the meantime, we will get a Britt Baker return and her and Mercedes will clash — but only after Mercedes wins her belt back Giulia and don’t be shocked if that happens sooner rather than later.

Winner: “And Still” Toni Storm

AEW International Championship: Orange Cassidy vs Rodrick Strong:

Kimmy: Those people out there who are fans of Undisputed Kingdom are going to be happy with this card. Now, I have said for a while that we are heading towards a heel Orange Cassidy and I think this is the match where it will happen. Cassidy is upset he loses the match as his best friends try to comfort him when he pushes them aside and deals with the loss himself. Buckle up, folks.

Winner: “And New” Rodrick Strong

Bill: RODDY! RODDY! Yup, “The Messiah of the Backbreaker” will be the one to defeat a very injured Orange Cassidy.

Winner: “And New” Rodrick Strong

AEW World Heavyweight Championship: Samoa Joe vs Swerve Strickland vs Adam Page:

Kimmy: There is a reason they made this a triple threat match so that Strickland does not lose clean in his first shot at the AEW World Heavyweight Championship. Joe just won the title at World’s End and it is too early for him to lose the title now. How the match will end is that Joe will either pin or make Page tap out to make Swerve upset. This will lead to Swerve getting another title shot most likely at Double or Nothing.

Winner: “And Still” Samoa Joe

Bill: Who’s house? You don’t have the dude (Wardlow) calling out a #1 contender (Swerve) if that person (Swerve) isn’t going to win the title. Now, could they do the thing where Hanger taps and then Swerve gets a shot at Big Business and THEN gets the win? Sure. But, I think Swerve winning on this historic night in front of a capacity crowd is how you do it. Hangman gets pinned here, we get a Joe rematch at Big Business (or a PPV that pops up between now and Double or Nothing) and then we get the rubber match with Hangman at Double or Nothing.

Winner: “And NEW” Swerve Strickland

Tornado Tag Team Championship Match: Sting and Darby Allin vs The Young Bucks (Matthew and Nicholas Jackson):

Kimmy: Wrestling 101, you always lose your retirement match. This one is going to be insane and emotional if you have watched Sting from the beginning. They will go all over the arena and Sting will be flying all over the place. Sadly Sting will take the pin to have The Bucks win the tag titles. Sting will be given a standing ovation with all of his friends and family sending him off. So officially from us Thank You, Sting.

Winner: “And New” The Young Bucks (Matthew and Nicholas Jackson)

Bill: Sometimes you have to “buck” convention. Yes, it makes all the sense to have The Bucks win, Sting go out on his shield, and we’re off to the races with The Bucks as big time heels. But you can also, since they are EVPs, strip Darby of the title if he can’t find a partner, and maybe have someone who loves Sting and has defended him against The Bucks like Kingston or Copeland fill in. Maybe, this one time we allow a legend, who is ACTUALLY done in wrestling, leave victorious. Give him his flowers and let him bask in his glory. Then let the wrestling figure itself out another day. It’s likely not to happen, but sometimes you just gotta hope.

Winner: “And Still” Sting and Darby Allin

AEW Revolution is streaming live on Bleacher Report on Sunday, March 3rd at 8:00 PM EST

The current record in Bill vs Kimmy is 2-1-2, in favor of Bill
