Pop Break Live: LANY ‘a beautiful blur’ World Tour at The Fillmore Philadelphia on April 9, 2024
Multi-platinum pop rock band LANY stopped in at Philly’s Fillmore on Tuesday April 9th. When the Nashville-born/Los Angeles-based band announced their North America tour in October, there is no doubt that their legion of fans were on cloud nine. It was only a few weeks prior that they released their critically acclaimed album A Beautiful Blur. Lead singer/guitarist Paul Jason Klein and Drummer Jake Goss have been creating dreamy pop rock music for over a decade and have been garnering fans all over the world with their incredible high energy shows.
The Fillmore was absolutely packed. Anticipating the bands arrival, the crowd starting chanting their name. They opened the show with “You!” a song off their popular 2021 album Mama’s Boy. It was a cool stage setup which had a small catwalk that went out into the GA section. Drummer Jake Goss sat in the back atop a raised glowing orange platform. Klein spent a lot of time on the catwalk but was all over the stage during the set, either jumping around or playing his guitar or his piano. His energy was boundless and was fun to watch. He went into the crowd a few times and gave some fans a memory of a lifetime.
Some in the audience presented him with some bouquets of flowers which has become a tradition at their shows. Ultimately the flowers are tossed up in the air as fans cheer him on. Some fans threw Klein some sunglasses and even a tiara at one point which he happily put on. The chemistry between Klein and the fans was off the charts. It seemed like a true lovefest that was definitely reciprocated. With all that adulation towards him during the night, he really did come off very humble as he expressed his thanks for everyone who came out to the show was truly grateful for all the years of support.
The setlist was a nice mix of new songs, deep cuts and fan favorites like “Pink Skies”, “Malibu,” “Dancing in the Kitchen” and “Through These Tears.” Some of the newer songs that stood out where “Out of My League,” “Love at First Fight,” “Cause You Have To” and “I Pray.” This was such a great crowd. They danced the night away and sang along loudly to their favorite songs.
LANY encored with “ILYSB” AND XXL and it was amazing. If you appreciate really good pop music with catchy lyrics and melodies that get stuck in your head, you need to check this band out!
