Team Bill vs Team Kimmy: Full Gear 2024 Predictions
Finally, a show that both Bill and I are going to in person. This is the second time Full Gear has come into our backyard in the Northeast and we are set to have a good show. With title matches, surprises, and huge implications at stake, let’s predict this year’s Full Gear pay-per-view.
Zero Hour:
Big Boom AJ vs QT Marshall:
Kimmy: There is little to say about this one. AJ has done a great job getting new eyes on this match, especially with his Jimmy Fallon appearance a couple of weeks ago. Marshall will put AJ over in a fun match to kick off the show.
Winner: Big Boom AJ
Bill: This match was booked for all of us who lived or worked down the Jersey Shore back in the early 00s and saw Big Boom’s face on every NWS poster out there. AJ has really gone the extra mile promoting AEW and guess what? It’s a smart move by AEW! This dude is on Fallon, has millions of social media followers and oh yeah, he knows how to wrestle. This one will be a goofy time at the graps. Don’t be shocked if you get cameos from someone like Paul Wight in this one. Oh, and The Rizzler is gonna get the monster Road Warrior pop.
Winner: Big Boom AJ, but most importantly The Rizzler
Main Card:
MJF vs Roderick Strong:
Kimmy: I am a little shocked they did not do the triple threat match to get Cole onto the card, but this match is fine. MJF will win this one and continue to beat down Strong after the match is over to insert his dominance. Cole will save Strong to set up MJF vs Cole at World’s End, on the one-year anniversary of Cole turning on MJF.
Winner: MJF
Bill: No doubt Max takes the W here. My big question is how does Kyle O’Reilly fit into all of this? That promo on Dynamite was awfully ominous — are we headed for AEW’s version of the fight forever feud of Cole & O’Reilly. Time will tell.
Winner: MJF
Jay White vs Adam Page:
Kimmy: Since we are in C2 season, I can see AEW running this match back in one of the tournament’s early rounds. In terms of a winner here since White won the match at the last pay-per-view, Page has to win to tie them up. Plus throwing this back to the BTE days, this is Page’s pay-per-view and The Elite named it after him, he has to win here.
Winner: Adam Page
Bill: My heart can never pick against my favorite Anxious Milennial Cowboy and the reason you should be on the Bluesky app. I think Hangman wins this one, but Jay White and he are not done here by a long shot. I could easily see these two going for a third match this fall and going full-blown Texas Death. These two have incredible chemistry and I think that type of match gets White over even more (and just in time for him to be a super babyface heading into the Australia show).
Winner: Adam Page
AEW Tag Team Championship Four Way: Private Party (Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen) vs The Outrunners (Truth Magnum and Turbo Floyd) vs Kings of the Black Throne (Malakai Black and Brody King) vs The Acclaimed (Anthony Bowens and Max Caster):
Kimmy: The Outrunners are going to shine in this match and are the underdogs going into it. Unfortunately, they are not going to win this one. Private Party just won the titles, it is too early to take them away from them. Plus, since Kassidy’s best friend will likely win gold later in the night, you need them to hold the titles for a little longer.
Winner: “And Still” Private Party (Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen)
Bill: This is the match that causes The Acclaimed to finally and thankfully split up. The Outrunners are going to be super, duper over. The House of Black are going to rough a lot of people up. However, Private Party is going to take the W here. I think this sets up a PP vs. HOB match, or could the team of Cage & Archer go after Private Party Party?
Winner: “And Still” Private Party (Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen)
AEW TBS Championship: Mercedes Mone with Kamille Brickhouse vs Kris Statlander:
Kimmy: Since there is a lot of tension between Mone and Brickhouse, you can argue that Brickhouse should turn here. However, I think we have time to build to that match. This match should be fine and easily can be the match of the night, but until Nightingale comes back from her injury Mone is not losing that title anytime soon.
Winner: “And Still” Mercedes Mone
Bill: I think this whole Kamille and Mercedes thing is a big ol’ shamski. Kamille is going to look to turn on Mercedes, then she’ll blind side Stat. Mercedes needs this as a (pun intended) statement match and Stat is the woman to do. AEW needs to get some more women back in rotation (cough Brit Baker cough), and off the injury list as Mercedes is running out of contenders.
Winner: “And Still” Mercedes Mone
Swerve Strickland vs Bobby Lashley:
Kimmy: Hurt Syndicate will be on top during this show. This is Lashley’s first pay-per-view and he can not lose this match. Lashley and Benjamin can beat down Strickland after the match is over which leads to Strickland finding a friend to set up the tag match. I do not know who that person could be, but EJ Nduka or Hobbs would be interesting.
Winner: Bobby Lashley
Bill: The Hurt Syndicate is not, I repeat not losing this early in their run. This match has the potential to be a show stealer because it’s a complete “Styles Makes Fights” kind of deal. Swerve is going to gather an army to fight MVP & company — and let’s not forget a while he told people to watch out for Lee Johnson and EJ Nudka. If this elevates two young dudes, I’m here for it.
Winner: Bobby Lashley
AEW TNT Championship: Jack Perry vs Daniel Garcia
Kimmy: The third time is always a charm. Since it looks like the Elite Faction is going to be the ones to take down the DeathRiders they all have to lose their titles, including Perry. Since re-signing with AEW, Garcia is being built up as a locker room leader and someone who will defend AEW till the end, which is exactly why he has to win this one.
Winner: “And New” Daniel Garcia
Bill: If I picked Jack Perry to win, I do believe Kimmy would quit the site. Jokes aside, it’s time to put the belt on young Daniel. Let him be the workhorse champion that he can be. Bring back open challenges, let him show he’s the man. Also, this puts in the crosshairs of Death Riders like Kimmy said.
Winner: “And New” Daniel Garcia
Will Ospreay vs Kyle Fletcher:
Kimmy: Somehow it seems like I am the only person picking Fletcher and I do not know if that makes me smarter than everyone else or dumb. Fletcher just turned heel and he needs the momentum, plus similar to Page vs White these two will be in the C2 where they can run this match back. I think this leads to a best-of-three matches between these two with Ospreay winning overall, but Fletcher winning the first match.
Winner: Kyle Fletcher
Bill: Match of the night. Fletched takes the dub here (not clean of course). Ospreay has yet to have less than anything but an absolute banger in AEW and this will be no different. Don’t be stunned if Mark Davis turned on Will.
Winner: Kyle Fletcher
AEW World Heavyweight Championship: Jon Moxley vs Orange Cassidy:
Kimmy: Now I was able to see their All Out main event a year ago in person and that match was amazing, I think this match tops that since we have seen a new version of Cassidy over the last couple of weeks. However, even with Cassidy putting up the fight of his life it will not be enough. Moxley will win this one, but maybe someone will come out at the end to face down with Moxley…
Winner: “And Still” Jon Moxley
Bill: Mox and OC will put on a violent delight for all of New Jersey to enjoy. No doubt Mox wins here.
Winner: “And Still” Jon Moxley
The current record in Bill vs Kimmy is 6-3-5 in favor of Bill
