There’s rarely been a card so fussed about for All Elite Wrestling than AEW Redemption which takes place at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on Sunday July 26.
This is the first installment of the Redemption PPV, sandwiched between Forbidden Door (which out-kicked its coverage) and All In London at Wembley Stadium. Fans and sickos alike have discussed the rushed nature of the show’s build, and to some extent, it’s hard to argue that point. This show seems, as of right now, to be unnecessary for AEW as it’s just about a month before All In.
However, if you listened to the AEW Redemption Media Call with Tony Khan (it’s below if you haven’t), Tony Khan mentioned the return of Hangman Page and Swerve Strickland, lest we forget the potential of multiple new stars coming into AEW in the very near future.
This show which seems superfluous right now, might be that vital turning point for the build to All In — AEW’s biggest show of the year. Now to be fair, could it be too much? Could it be a hat on a hat? Yes, we cannot deny that. However, one thing AEW has done in 2026 (and most of 2025) is take a card that looks “meh” and turn it into “woah.” Will that continue? We’ll see.

AEW Women’s World Title Match: “The Toxic Spider” Thekla (C) vs. “The Babe with the Power” Willow Nightingale
Thoughts: You’d be a real stupid bitch not to be excited for this match. Sorry, that was harsh, but you get the joke. Thekla and Willow are going to beat each other from pillar to post. If Kenny Omega were not main eventing this show, this would be the match of the night. My gut feeling is Willow wins the World Title and takes it into Wembley Stadium to defend against Mercedes Mone. It does suck that the result of that match will be a short title reign for Willow or Mercedes’ third miss at the big one.
But what about Thekla? Don’t worry, my theory is there’s a big-time match for her and her fellow Artist of Stardom champions, The Sisters of Sin, at Wembley. That match will involve none other than brand new AEW signing, KAIRI. That’s right, Kairi is coming to AEW to defend the honor of her home promotion, Stardom and she’ll be bringing company with her. Now will that be resident Stardom wrestlers like Syuri and Starlight Kid (for example) or will it be new signings to AEW, or will it be existing AEW/ROH roster members? Who’s to say. However, this writer would bet (and I hate gambling) that the “Pirate Princess”—someone Kenny Omega has wanted in the company since before it began—will lead the charge against The Triangle of Madness.
Prediction: “And New” Willow Nightingale
AEW Men’s World Title Match: “The Best Bout Machine” Kenny Omega (C) vs. “The Jet” Kevin Knight
Thoughts: The outcome of this match is fairly predictable. Kenny Omega, The Cleaner himself, is walking out of Quebec with his hand held high and he’ll main event Wembley against Will Ospreay … and rightfully so. However, the point of this match is prepare the audience for the eventual ascension of “The Jet” to the main event scene. This is about him showing out against one of the best to ever do it. And you know he will. Kevin Knight is going to be pushed harder than ever, and it seems almost guaranteed that he will rise to the challenge. Match of the Night. Let’s go.
Prediction: “And still” Kenny Omega.
AEW National Title Match: “Dunkzilla” Mark Davis (C) vs. Andrade El Ídolo
Thoughts: It’s so awesome to see Mark Davis get his due in AEW in 2026. After so many setbacks due to injury, the guy who seemed like a can’t miss star back pre-pandemic felt like he was going to be lost in the shadow of his Aussie Open partner, Kyle Fletcher. Thankfully Big Dunk got into incredible shape, has stayed healthy and has delivered. He’s been a brute force in AEW and has stood out from the rest of the insanely talented roster with his rough and rugged style. However, he isn’t the only man on a run of a lifetime. Andrade, since his return to AEW, has been performing at a level we’ve never seen in the United States. Sure there was that run as NXT champ and those matches with Rey Mysterio, but this sustained run is on another level. He looks so much more comfortable as a babyface with a catchphrase, and there’s an air of lightheartedness to his character that the fans absolutely adore. And the matches? Just banger after banger.
So while it sucks that “Dunkzilla” will have a short run as champion (thanks to visa issues), it’s time to give Andrade some gold in AEW. Where does this take Andrade for Wembley? Not sure what his path is, but he deserves a big time showcase.
Prediction: “And New” Andrade El Ídolo
No Holds Barred Match: “The Painmaker” Chris Jericho vs. Tomasso Ciampa
Thoughts: This is a classic Jericho feud – he loses the first match then goes on to have a long feud to get the W back. Jericho is 2-0 as The Painmaker and that likely won’t change any time soon. While the gimmick is very, very silly and almost anti-what AEW is about these days, he’s excelled at plunder matches. Ciampa has been all hits, no misses in AEW thus far and that won’t change any time soon either. This will be better than advertised.
Prediction: Chris Jericho
AEW International Title Match (Everyone Is Banned from Ringside): “The Protostar” Kyle Fletcher (C) vs. “Most Wanted” Bandido
Thoughts: This match will be phenomenal. Neither Fletcher nor Bandido shrink in the bright lights of a PPV, and they will undoubtedly try and steal the show. Fletcher will walk into Wembley with the belt, however AEW really needs to put the rocket (on the main roster) to “The Most Wanted” because he’s become absolutely beloved to the AEW fans. He’s this company’s Rey Mysterio and they’re going to need to show that in kind with a major win one day.
Prediction: “And Still” Kyle Fletcher
AEW Men’s Tag Team Title Match: Christian Cage and Adam Copeland (C) vs. The Death Riders (Claudio Castagnoli and Pac)
Thoughts: This Cage and Cope run feels like we’re biding time until Wembley where they will drop the gold to either The Bucks or Hurt Syndicate (remember them?) or a new team like the former New Day or Motor City Machine Guns at Wembley. This is a nice nostalgia run for them, but as each day goes by, it’s obvious their time as a team in AEW is drawing to a close. No question they retain here. Pac and Claudio will work their hardest here, as will The Kings of the 5 Second Pose. This will be a solid match, but it’ll be lost to the ether in a month’s time.
Prediction: “And Still” C&C Canadian Factory
The Death Riders (Jon Moxley vs. Will Ospreay) vs. The Young Bucks
Thoughts: The most divisive match on the card is the hardest match to call. People either love or hate the Mox/Ospreay Point Break storyline. The Bucks being involved as a proxy for Kenny Omega is just as divisive. The match itself will be excellent, because look who’s in it. The outcome is the big head scratcher. Do The Bucks lose and have to figure out a way to challenge for the tag belts at All In? Or do we begin to see the fissures in The Death Riders and Ospreay’s relationship. I’m going to say this is the beginning of a long, violent end for Billy Goat and Mox.
Prediction: The Young Bucks
AEW TBS Title Match: Hikaru Shida (C) vs. “The It Girl” Maya World
Thoughts: Maya World winning would be incredible. And it could happen. Sometimes you need to strike while the iron is hot. However, Shida’s been on such a strong run that having her drop the title at this show might not be the best move. Coin flip on this one and we’re going chalk.
Prediction: “And still” Hikaru Shida
6-Way Ladder Match to Determine the #1 Contender for the International Title: “Jungle” Jack Perry vs. The Beast Mortos vs. El Clon vs. “The Prodigy” Nick Wayne vs. Komander vs. Speedball Mike Bailey
Thoughts: If Kyle Fletcher does retain, then a babyface is going to win this one. And that babyface will be Jack Perry. Speedball is on a collision course with Kevin Knight for Wembley (watch me be wrong) so that eliminates him. El Clon and Beast Mortos just returned, and they’re not high enough on the card for a featured singles match at Wembley. Same goes for Nick Wayne and Komander. So by process of elimination we get the newly re-signed Jungle Jack scoring the W.
Prediction: Jack Perry
Double Chain Tag Team Match: The Bang Bang Gang (Jay White & Juice Robinson) vs. The Dogs (David Finlay & Clark Connors)
Thoughts: This feels like a big angle to have Gabe Kidd return. Likely we’ll get some sort of Anarchy in the Arena/big fight between The Bang Bang Gang and a variation on The Dogs and Death Riders at Wembley. Not exactly over the moon about this match in general, even with the stipulation.
Prediction: The Dogs thanks to Gabe Kidd
