Linda Cardelini is ready to bring a new side of Pamela Voorhees to Crystal Lake
The Pop Break headed to New York Comic Con to chat with Crystal Lake star Linda Cardelini and series creator Brad Caleb Kane about bringing one of horror’s most infamous mothers back to the screen.
Cardelini plays Pamela Voorhees, the mother of horror icon Jason Voorhees, in the prequel to the 1980 slasher of all slasher films, Friday the 13th. But don’t expect a simple prequel; this is one you won’t want to miss.
During New York Comic Con’s 20th anniversary celebration, we caught up with Cardelini and Kane to discuss the upcoming Peacock series Crystal Lake, premiering October 15, 2026, and what fans can expect from this new chapter in the Friday the 13th universe.
Cardelini opened up about getting inside Pamela’s headspace and finding her own way to portray Pamela Voorhees. Rather than simply imitating Betsy Palmer’s unforgettable performance in the original Friday the 13th, Cardelini wanted to bring something new to the role while honoring the legacy of a character who helped shape horror history.
