AEW Fright Night Dynamite 2026 Review: All Hail the Queen (Aminata)

It’s pandemonium! This special edition of AEW Fright Night Dynamite kicks off with a bang bang! We’ve got a hot crowd tonight, hyped Jay White and David Finlay of The Cut defeated Jon Moxley and Daniel Garcia of the Death Riders. What a match. Garcia was massively over. White and Finlay channeled their NJPW energy with their tactics. The crowd erupted for everything Mox and Garcia did — their barrage of lariats in the corner, Mox with a stalling piledriver, just great stuff. However, as Garcia and Mox seemingly had the match in hand, interference, beginning with Ace Austin, changed the outcome when White hit the Blade Runner for the win.

It was inevitable; the crowd now cheers for Wheeler Yuta. I honestly didn’t think it would happen. Claudio is an absolute monster. He throws people. He turns a trash can into a boomerang. The mega brawl led Mox to issue a Full Gear challenge… ANARCHY IN THE ARENA!!

Seriously, Claudio can throw a trash can, knock Austin Gunn into next week, and have it return to him. Astounding.

Kyle Fletcher defeated Jack Perry

Great match. Perry and Fletcher kept the pace exciting and unpredictable. Perry is trying to prove he has what it takes to challenge Samoa Joe again while Fletcher wants to prove he is World Champion material.

Perry took on some very high-risk moves throughout, including three consecutive dives followed by a huge top-rope moonsault. However, as Fletcher gained momentum, was able to stay a step or two ahead of Perry. It appeared Perry had the match in hand, until Fletcher managed to overpower Perry with a hellaciously disastrous turnbuckle brainbuster for the win. After the match, Fletcher issued a challenge to AEW World Champion Will Ospreay to a title bout. He pulled up his history with Ospreay, how he defeated him at Full Gear 2024 in New Jersey.

In-ring segment, Renee Paquette talks with Kofi and Austin Creed about their upcoming Texas Death Match at Full Gear. They want to go home to their families in one piece. Creed seems a bit freaked out; he doesn’t think this match is appealing, and he asks, “In order to lose, we have to die??” Kofi lets him know this is not exactly how the match works. However, they say they haven’t been around long enough to hate anyone, and they kinda like Bandido, Brody, and even “Hangman” Adam Page. Brody comes charging out, claiming they are behind Bandido’s disappearance. The New Level doesn’t know what’s happening, but Hangman rushes out to make peace between them, telling Brody and New Level this is playing into Swerve’s hands and that Swerve is showing his true colors.

Prince Nana comes out and shows the big screen, where Swerve seems to have beaten and bloodied Bandido. Swerve is back to his nefarious and evil ways.

Is this all a ploy? Will the New Level turn with Swerve? Do they legitimately not know what Swerve is capable of?

Motor City Machine Guns defeated FTR

Solid tag match, but in a Best of Series, it may be better to spread the matches out a bit. The finish was pretty creative: Cash’s wheelbarrow German into a roll by Dax, only to be countered into a pinfall to give MCMG the win.

Marina Shafir mauled Rachel Armstrong

This… was a slaughter.

After the match, Marina got on the mic to call out AEW World Women’s Champion, Mercedes Mone. She obliged, tried to intimidate Marina, but it clearly failed. Suddenly, The Cut rush in and attack Mox; once again, an all-out brawl ensues. Claudio’s arrival draws a huge eruption. The guy mauls everyone again, throwing people like those damn Squishmallows. Inevitably, the numbers overwhelm him, and White takes him out for good after he hits a Blade Runner on the concrete floor.

Claudio using a tire iron to stop a low blow was great.

Tommaso Ciampa talks about defeating Andrade and becoming the AEW National Champion. He goes on to say no one is in his league… Until Ilya Dragunov arrives! The crowd is going wild. Ciampa vs. Dragunov in the near future? Yes please!!

Darby Allin retains the TNT Championship against “The Walking Weapon” Josh Alexander

As expected, the majority of the match features Darby as a crash test dummy, with remnants of a demolition derby as Alexander throws and slams the champ around like the rent is overdue. It is uncanny how Darby can take a beating and somehow come out unscathed. Does he not have bones? Is his pain not real? Alexander nearly takes Darby out of commission with a Tombstone Piledriver off the apron and through two metal chairs. Alexander locks in the Ankle Lock, but Darby rolls back and pins the challenger for the win.

RPG Vice tries to interfere, but a guy in a creepy clown mask punches them out. The involved spectator reveals himself to be Steve Borden! Backstage, Borden says he’s ready for Blood and Guts because he wanted the match!

Main Event: Queen Aminata defeats Persephone for the TBS Championship

You read it right! Queen Aminata is the new TBS Champion — an extremely well-deserved title. Persephone made a great TBS Champion. She carried the belt around with the presence a champion should have. Queen Aminata has a similar presence. In the ring, both women use hard strikes, powerful suplexes, and powerslams. Aminata immediately gained attention with her feud with Thekla. Aminata gained attention for her hard-hitting, strong style. The title bout with Persephone felt like the perfect fit for her victory. Aminata absolutely earned and deserves to be a part of the title and main event scene in AEW — an excellent match with an excellent outcome. The celebration with the women’s roster at the end was a fitting touch to close out the show.

AEW Fright Night Dynamite is now streaming on HBO MAX.
