Chris tells the men that they are heading to Rhode Island. They seem overly excited to go from beautiful sunny California to Rhode Island… and it looks like they get put up into a dingy hotel… but maybe that’s just me.
Date 1 – Solo Date
Participant – Jed
Prompt – “Meet me in Boston”
First of all, before the date starts, Hannah tries to remember the line “No taxation without representation” and boy does she struggle. Hannah and Jed walk around Boston and Hannah decides to make up a bunch of fake facts about America, which is fun. They go to the bar from the TV show Cheers.
On a side note, how much is Halo Top paying the Bachelorette to get that sweet promotional branding? Hannah and Jed literally walk up to an ice cream vendor who is exclusively serving Halo Top ice cream, and they each get their own individual pints. (During the commercial break, the first commercial that plays is a Halo Top commercial, and the guy who served Hannah and Jed their ice cream, was the guy in the commercial.)
Hannah brings Jed to the Boston Celtics court and introduces Jed to a few of the Celtics players. Hannah and Jed get their own custom jerseys and play basketball with two of the Celtics players.
During the dinner portion of the date, they talk about their favorite parts of the date. Hannah seemed worried that Jed might be using this as an opportunity to expand his music career, but Jed tells her that he feels like he could be falling for her and that it is beyond a show. She gives him the date rose.
Date 2 – Group Date
Participants – Dylan, Matteo, John Paul Jones, Garret, Connor, Grant, Devin, Dustin, Peter, Kevin, Mike, Luke S., Luke P.
Prompt – “True love requires blood sweat and tears”
The guys find out that they’re going to be playing rugby. The do some training and practicing tackling each other and charging into each other. Eventually they divvy up the group into a green team and a blue striped team. From pretty early on in the game, the men are falling over each other and getting hurt. Kevin even dislocated his shoulder while playing. But the game must go on, and Luke P. starts to come unhinged. While he’s playing, he starts really ripping some of the guys down and hurting them. At one-point Luke P. tackled Luke S. and the crowd booed him. Luke P.’s team ended up winning, which feels bittersweet since Luke P. has been established as the villain, especially now that Cam is gone.
During the dinner portion of the date Hannah is wearing a silver silk suit. For the second group date in a row, Hannah pulls Luke P. away first. Luke P. immediately addresses the situation that happened with Luke S., and he threw Luke S. under the bus telling Hannah that Luke S. isn’t there for her. Luke S. tells his side of the story to Hannah and she addresses her concerns with him. The other guys start throwing Luke P. under the bus during their own one-on-one time.
While all the men are sitting in the common area, they confront Luke P. about how he was being an ass. They call him out and while Luke P, tries to defend himself, the rest of the men get up and literally just walk away, leaving Luke P. alone in the room with Luke S. Luke S. straight up asks Luke P. why he decked him and Luke P. says that he thought Luke S. was going to take a swing at him.
Garrett approaches Hannah and talks to her about he’s crushing for her hard, which is honestly a really cute way to address such a serious conversation with her. Hannah ends up giving the group date rose to Garrett.
Date 3 – Solo Date
Participant – Tyler C.
During a new day, they show Hannah crying on the edge of a dock. She’s emotional about everything that’s going on with Luke P and Luke S. There’re a few awkward moments where the camera is just zoomed in on her crying face and making weird crying noises.
Tyler meets up with her and I feel bad for him because she’s really out of it. She apologizes to him for being not really fun in the moment and he handles it like a champ. He comforts her while supporting her and makes her smile, which is impressive.
They go lobster hunting on this date. After catching some lobsters, they show the two of them eating some lobsters on the boat and I can’t help but wonder if those were the lobster they caught or if they brought some prepped lobster with them to eat on the boat.
During the dinner portion of the date Hannah is wearing a simple, but classy black dress with some statement earrings. Hannah admits that she originally thought he was like a player. He admitted that he was having some issues with his father’s health but eventually mentions that his father is doing better. She gives him the date rose. They go to a Jake Owen concert and slow dance together. While they were slow dancing, and Jake saw them kiss, Jake’s face looked a bit shocked and it was pretty funny.
Cocktail Party
Hannah is wearing another simple and elegant black velvet dress with rhinestone straps. The men talk about how they don’t want Luke P. to get a rose. Mike confronts him about attacking Luke S. Mike calls him psychotic and Luke P.’s pupils were so wide that I couldn’t even see his irises. They cut over to Luke S. talking with some of the other guys and they genuinely seem to trust and appreciate Luke S. more. I can’t help but wonder if that’s because they find he’s less of a threat.
Luke S. sits with Hannah and confronts her. Hannah admits to still being confused and needing more time to think about it. So, Luke S. confronts Luke P. about the lie that he told Hannah which is causing Hannah to not trust him. Luke P. agrees to tell Hannah that Luke S. is there for the right reasons. So, Luke P. goes to talk to Hannah and just twists Luke S.’s words around and makes it sound like Luke S. begged him to speak on his behalf… and basically makes Luke S. sound manipulative. This is the episode where we really see Luke P.’s villainous side. This whole cocktail party has been this scenario: Luke P. talks to Hannah, Hannah talks to Luke S., Luke S. talks to Luke P., then Luke P. talks to Hannah again.
I think Hannah may have been eavesdropping on their conversation and pulls both of the Luke’s to another room.
No rose ceremony this week, since the Luke situation still needs to be resolved.
The list of men who receive roses:
