Well, It (heh heh) gave me the chills.
Following the plot of the origin novel by Stephen King and the two-part mini-series from 1990, It Chapter Two takes place 27 years after the events of It (2017).
Now, I love horror and I hate clowns — both of which are owed to the master of horror himself, Stephen King. However, I also love James McAvoy, who will be playing Bill Denbrough, so seeing glimpses of his rendition of Bill in the trailer was pretty great.
From what we’re shown in roughly 2 minutes and 35 seconds, I can’t say that I have any qualms with the casting. For those who forgot — McAvoy portrays Bill, Jessica Chastain plays Bev Marsh, New Zealand actor Jay Ryan portrays Ben, Bill Hader dons the spec to play Richie, Isaiah Mustafa (known for his work as The Old Spice Guy) plays Mike, veteran character actor James Ransone will be Eddie, and Andy Bean portrays Stan.
What I’m most concerned about it the environment. Though we are only shown it in flashes, this movie seems like it’s going to be very elaborate with the scenery and the places we go. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but we have seen this happen too many times — a good movie being ruined by too much being shoved into it.
Bill Skarsgård is still absolutely terrifying as Pennywise and let’s be honest, that’s the most important thing. The rest of the movie can be chaos but as long as Pennywise is the embodiment of childhood nightmares, it will be well worth it.
