When it comes to rising talent, artists that have their own highly unique aesthetic usually tend to resonate fully with listeners. London-based Indie/Alt artist Gia Ford has been cultivating hers since the release of her 2019 EP Posterboy. Her latest musical direction she’s embracing the avant-garde sensibilities of her sound and honing them as evidenced by latest single “Sleeping In Your Garden.”
Ford burst onto the scene a year ago with her glossy brand of new wave and synth-pop before attracting the attention of London-based label Dirty Hit — the label home to breakout acts such as The 1975. “Sleeping In Your Garden” follows her most recent album the gothic art-pop-infused Murder in The Dark. The song marks a notable departure from Ford’s sound as it trades in her usual synth-pop laden approach for a twisty, grunge rock-esque number that’s equal parts serene and sultry.
Vocally, Ford turns in of her most commanding and vital performance on the track. It’s full of searing emotion and desire making for some truly memorable moments throughout the track. With “Sleeping In Your Garden” it appears Ford is building off Murder in The Dark’s foundation to forge some startling and diverse musical territory.
If this single is any indication of her upcoming projects, Gia Ford is fully emerging to a dynamic and visceral talent and “Sleeping In Your Garden” establishes itself as a notable first step in a bold new direction Do yourself a favor and make sure you’re not sleeping on this one.
