Pop Break’s Podcasts Editor Alex Marcus is joined by editor-in-chief Bill Bodkin, and TV Columnist Josh Sarnecky to talk about the happenings in television.
Here’s the format of the show:
The Best Thing I Saw on TV Last Month – Alex, Bill, and Josh talk about a show/episode/event they liked from the last month including Disney+’s WandaVision; HBO Max’s Doom Patrol & Titans; NBC’s Hannibal; and FOX’s New Girl.
News Break – Alex, Bill, and Josh discuss the overall decline in scripted series this year for the first time in a decade, including whether this decline is good or bad news for TV viewers and if it’s here to stay.
Streaming Wars – Alex, Bill, and Justin pick a streamer they think “won the month” based on new shows airing/upcoming shows announced etc. Bill and Alex decided Peacock won the month with their recent acquisitions of the WWE Network and Modern Family libraries and their surprisingly strong year-end subscriber numbers. Meanwhile, it was Josh’s turn to go in a different direction, handing the prize to Discovery+ for their exclusive library of unscripted shows like House Hunters and Chopped that people can’t stop binging.
Series Spotlight – Alex, Bill, and Josh watched AppleTV+’s The Snoopy Show and assessed whether it was worthy of the Peanuts mantle and if AppleTV+ can do this franchise justice.
