CNCOwners Rise! The beloved Latin Boy Band, CNCO, takes a crack at acting in their new Disney+ limited series, 4EVER.
The limited series consists of five episodes which all aired on October 11. It follows the lives of Andy (Christopher Velez), Dario (Erick Brian Colon), Ian (Richard Camacho), and Ciro (Zabdiel De Jesus), who decided to spontaneously form a band after seeing themselves in the middle of a situation one random afternoon.
The first four episodes do a great job of flashing back and forth to give each of the members their own origin moment. To develop how they got to where they are and how music changed their life. The final episode flashes back and forth between their final success and the challenges they went through to fix what went wrong the first time around.
For fans, the series is a nice addition to the discography the band has built. It gives the fanbase a new side of the band and a new project to hold on to. However, on its own, it is underdeveloped. The individual storylines for the members are solid, but the climax is unclear and has a confusing resolution. Ideally, if the series were to have had more episodes it would have helped in developing the story a little more deeply.
As a CNCOwner, I must commend the parallels 4EVER holds to CNCO’s own career. CNCO was formed as the result of winning the first season of the reality competition series La Banda, originally five members hence the name CNCO, which is CINCO (five in Spanish) without the I. The group has been together for seven years. For the last two years, they have been working as a four-some following the departure of their fifth member Joel Pimentel in 2021. The series parallels this as the characters bond over competing on a similar series as a group and nods to their career with specific looks mimicking music videos, as well as pieces of their past music including “Tan Enamordos” which they covered in their album Deja Vu.
The series also brought us two new CNCO hits, “Para Siempre” and “Fuego”, both of which are on repeat in my household. Thank you Disney+!
4EVER is the last project of the group as they announced they would disband following their Ultima Cita World Tour. It gives the fans a new CNCO story, and gives fans one last, goodbye, because they are, and their love for their fans is 4ever.
