Pop Break Live: 311 and Dirty Heads “So Glad You Made It Tour” at The PNC Bank Arts Center on Thursday July 23, 2026

Some concerts are about the music. Others are about the atmosphere. The recent 311 and Dirty Heads show delivered plenty of both, with an energetic crowd that seemed completely locked into the vibe from beginning to end.
Opening the night, 311 once again reminded me why I’ve enjoyed seeing them live over the years. Celebrating an incredible 36 years together, the band leaned heavily into its older material, delivering fan favorites like “Down,” “Amber,” “All Mixed Up,” “Beautiful Disaster,” “Come Original,” “Transistor” and “Feels So Good.” The decision to emphasize the classics paid off, with the crowd responding enthusiastically throughout.
There’s something especially impressive about watching a band with more than three decades together still perform with so much energy. Rather than feeling like a nostalgia act, 311 sounded tight, confident and genuinely engaged.
Dirty Heads followed as the headliner on their “So Glad You Made It” Tour, bringing their trademark blend of reggae, rock and hip-hop. Songs including “Seven Seas,” “My Sweet Summer,” “Lay Me Down,” “Vacation,” “That’s All I Need” and “Island Glow” kept the crowd moving.
One of the highlights was the brass instrumentation woven into several Dirty Heads songs. The horns added another layer to their already distinctive sound and made some of the live arrangements particularly memorable. Their performance also featured a fun “Life’s Been Good” Joe Walsh cover and a collaboration with 311’s Nick Hexum on “So Glad You Made It.”

Ultimately, Dirty Heads delivered exactly what you’d expect from a headliner: a fun, vibrant and highly engaging performance. Nick Hexum would join the boys on stage to perform “So Glad You Made It.” 311 leaned into their legacy. Their older hits, seasoned performance and undeniable chemistry reminded everyone why they’ve remained together for as long as I’ve been alive. The best part, though, was the audience. Everyone seemed to be there for the same reason: to forget about everything else for a few hours, sing along and enjoy the music.
