The Jersey Shore’s favorite surf rock outfit The Brigantines are back.
We last saw the band at The Asbury Lanes around Memorial Day Weekend and now with the dog days of summer upon us, the band is back with a big show and a new single.
First, the single.
The band has dropped their latest track “Ocean Park” and it’s currently on their BandCamp site for absolutely free but for a limited time only. The song is a breezy summer love song that maintains the essence of what made a lot of us fall in love with the band — their Beach Boys sound with tinges of British alt and New Wave beneath it (which can be heard in the vocals).
We’re hoping that “Ocean Park” is the first sign that the band will be producing a follow-up to their excellent debut record, Vacation!
Now onto the show.
On Thursday August 1, The Brigantines will return to the venue they performed their first Jersey Shore ever (which just happened to be one of Pop-Break’s Shipwrecked at the Shore concerts), the famed Wonder Bar on Ocean Avenue in Asbury Park.
They will be opening up for the undisputed king of surf guitar Dick Dale. This is the second time the band will be opening for the big kahuna of guitar as they performed in support of him in 2012 at the currently under renovation Joey Harrison’s Club.
Best way to kick off the last month of summer? We’d be hard pressed to find a better show.
