Theater, Rent, No Thanks, Undecided? Rent. Killing Them Softly looks like a slick piece of cinema. Boasting an all star cast including leading man Brad Pitt, James Gandolfini, Richard Jenkins, and Ray Liotta, the movie focuses on Pitt’s character investigating a robbery that takes place during a high profile poker game. The film features some slow motion shots kind of emphasizing the title of said film, and it looks to be pretty entertaining for the most part. For that matter, I’ll check it out when it hits the home video market for a weekend watch. –LJF

Theater, Rent, No Thanks, Undecided? Theater. I am a sucker for an ensemble crime drama, nay I am addicted to them. From caper flicks like Snatch to heist movies like Heat, to their lesser straight-to-DVD cousins, I can’t get enough of them. Multiple storylines, memorably quirky characters, guns ablazin’, yup, can’t get enough of them. And Killing Them Softly looks like it will keep feeding my addiction. There’s rarely been a movie with Brad Pitt in the lead that I’ve disliked (except The Mexican) — to me he always delivers. My concern for this film, like any of its genre, is that it’ll be a little muddled in terms of the story — too many things happening all at once (the trailer does hint at this). However, the cast is so strong that I think they can overcome it. So sign me up for this gritty, action-packed and I think surprisingly funny crime drama. –BB
