6. Inglorious Basterds (2009)
While a little scattered at times, Quentin Tarantino brings his usual brand of great performances and beautiful tension, with a slight cartoonish twist. There’s plenty of characters you love to hate here, most notably Christoph Waltz as Hans Landa, a role that won him his first Oscar. One of my biggest complaints with Inglorious Bastards though is we needed more time with the Bastards. At least we got to know Pitt’s character well, Lieutenant Aldo Raine, a real playful protagonist. You can tell Pitt loved playing this character. Inglorious Basterds is just a plain ole good time, with a real wallop of a third act.
