Its Impact on the Pixar Brand: The Incredibles came out within the first decade of Pixar’s introduction, and it continued the company’s critically acclaimed library of films. Before the Marvel Cinematic Universe was even a concept in Hollywood, this movie was the perfect superhero film, although some believe it still is. The family dynamic, the booming score, and the underlying dark tones all fit together successfully to give us what the original Fantastic Four movie failed to achieve. Honestly, it does what a lot of superhero movies in general cannot do-the story, humor, drama, and action are all perfectly balanced. It is the Pixar formula running on all cylinders.
Why I Love It: Well, I mean I love superheroes. I love animation. I loved Pixar even before this movie came out. When The Incredibles released, I was thinking that this movie was going to be good. As it stands 11 years later, this film is my favorite movie. Ever. It encompasses everything I love about film in one, two-hour feature. Not only that, but it’s just non-stop entertainment. There isn’t a dull moment here and whenever the action isn’t keeping things going, the characters are so well developed that you can’t help but be drawn in. I can’t put it better into words than this: I freaking love this movie.
Best Moment: The Incredibles has so many good moments, but it is also is extremely quotable. You’ll probably guess the moment in question before you even finish reading. As disaster is raining down on the city, Frozone (Samuel. L Jackon) realizes he needs to get into gear. Searching frantically for his heroic wardrobe, he belts out, “HONEEEEEEEYYYYY, WHEEERRRREEEE’S MY SUPER SUIT?”
