Sofia Coppola and Bill Murray are reuniting for the first time since their critically acclaimed drama Lost in Translation. But their next project together is a bit unconventional. A Very Murray Christmas, which Coppola has written and directed, will premiere on Netflix next month, and the first trailer has just arrived.
An homage to the many classic variety shows that typically air throughout the holidays, the special finds Murray playing himself as he worries that his other famous friends won’t be able to make an appearance due to a snowstorm. Throughout the night, guests begin to arrive in an effort to help Murray spread holiday cheer.
The trailer promises appearances from Amy Poehler, Michael Cera and Chris Rock, along with a musical duet between Murray and Miley Cyrus. But the guest list doesn’t end there; Julie White, Dimitri Dimitrov, David Johansen, Maya Rudolph, Jason Schwartzman, Jenny Lewis, Rashida Jones and even George Clooney will make appearances. French rock band Phoenix, fronted by Coppola’s husband Thomas Mars, will also guest star.
A Very Murray Christmas will be available to stream on December 4th.
