Quick Honorable Mentions:
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows (June 3rd): I stupidly had expectations for the first film, and on second viewing, it’s actually not half bad. If they can just get the villains right, this might be a good Turtles movie. And even though the animation looks horrible, it was quite a thrill to finally see live action Bebop and Rocksteady. I’m going in tempered this time.
Untitled Jason Bourne 5 (July 29th): I didn’t even bother with Bourne Legacy, and it seems like no one else did either. I’ll make this quick – Matt Damon is back. I’m curious.
Gambit (October 7th): I wish I could put this in my top ten, but I’m a little queasy. This will be Fox’s third X-Men movie in 2016. Are they stretching themselves too thin? Its also had some director issues. While Channing Tatum is a great choice, and Gambit has been criminally underused in the X-Men franchise, I need to see more.
Jack Reacher: Never Go Back (October 21st): The first Jack Reacher movie is ridiculously underrated. It’s Tom Cruise in all his glory. I’m glad this character is getting a second go around.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (November 18th): I’m a Harry Potter guy, and certainly support the idea of J.K. Rowling giving us another character in the world to follow. I just wish it wasn’t this one. A guy who tries to catch monsters? Eh. The first teaser didn’t do anything to get my excitement going. It’s still early, but I need to see a lot more.
