When Netflix announced they were canceling Sense8 the fans cried out “We need an ending!”
I know because I was one of these fans. Sense8 was gorgeously directed, every actor was amazing, and the story was so touching and heart-warming that sometimes viewers laughed and other times they cried. I am beyond happy that Neftlix decided to give this strong and amazing story a conclusion. But, still very angry that we didn’t get more seasons. I guess it’s not cheap to film in 8 different locations globally, so Netflix decided to axe the series.
Anyway, there will be spoilers from the last two seasons. I suggest that if you aren’t caught up wait to read this review.
If you recall at the end of Season 2 Wolfgang (Max Riemelt) was captured. The good thing was that Will (Brian J. Smith) had successfully used his detective skills to locate Whispers and detain him. Oh, and of course the cluster was finally together. The movie picks up right where Season 2 left off. So, there’s no weird gaps in plot. The cluster is trying their best to save Wolfgang and to find out why Whispers is hurting other Sense8’s.
This was also the first time all of the members of the cluster finally met in person. Sure, previously they all interacted with each other in a way that defied physics. But, they were finally together. The cluster was working together to take down BPO. I don’t know about you but I was super excited to see them all working together and with their close loved ones that were regular humans by their side as well.
So, did the ending hold up? I believe so. The cinematography kept its same breath-taking style. The action scenes stayed over-the-top and amazingly choreographed. We followed the cluster through most of Europe. And, as usual, every single actor did an amazing job of portraying their characters. There were lots of call-backs to some of the best scenes from previous seasons.
If you were worried that you wouldn’t get answers to a lot of loose ends, don’t. There were so many answers to so many questions I had throughout the series tied up. Honestly there were even plot points I forgot about that got tied up. Something that I must warn you about with this conclusion: Get ready to cry. I can’t tell you if tears will be happy or sad, but I can tell you that you will have a plethora of feels. And, of course no spoilers by saying this but the film also kept with uniting different types people and cultures. That’s one of the main reasons I loved the show so much. So much representation for so many different types of amazing people.
I only had one complaint about the conclusion: that we didn’t get another season. Seriously, I was overall very pleased with the conclusion, but I just wish it had gone on longer to share more stories with our favorite cluster.
