All our favorites from Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them are back. We get to see a young Dumbledore (Jude Law) and Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) working together within a teacher and student dynamic.
The trailer gives us fun glimpses of what to expect. Something that spoke to me the most was a fun flashback that I think any creative soul can relate to. Peering into Newt’s past and learning his biggest fear. The magical world in the first film got up close and personal with the muggle world. That theme continues in this trailer.
Spoiler: At the end of the first film it was unsure on what exactly Jacob (Dan Fogler) would remember from his time with Newt, Queenie, and Porpentina (Alison Sudol and Katherine Waterson). But, it’s safe to say that from his interaction with Nicholas Flamel that he will be immersed quickly back into the wizarding world. The interaction between Jacob and Nicholas tells me that we will get to learn even more about the intertwining of Wizards and Muggles.
The trailer shows us just enough to establish where things stand with our favorite characters. And, it does well to get us excited for some action, humor, and suspense. I’m personally excited to see Dumbledore and Newt work together to defeat Grindelwald.
The only thing I had questioned when it was revealed that Johnny Depp would play as Grindelwald was if he would pull off the aesthetic. I am personally looking forward to watching this movie now as a result of seeing this trailer.
