Ol’ Optimus just can’t seem to catch a break. Once again, due to previous delays, a lot of what takes place here has yet to happen in the pages of Optimus Prime.
Unicron is here. All other targets have been devoured. Starscream makes another play for power, uniting forces disbanded during the IDW run.
There is an overload of characters trying to wrap their robotic minds of what is in front of them. A huge assault is made, and predictably for the reader, Starscream’s faith in his ego and verbal charm once again is pivotal to yet another betrayal.
A lot of nods to Marvel G1 and G2 comics. I enjoyed this issue very much, even with it stuffed with so many characters not leaving enough space to see more develop. John Barber continues the end of the current Transformers saga with some major shake ups and major plot reveals. I have to give the guy massive kudos if I haven’t already. The story crafted from start to finish, successfully using past plots and story arcs as tie-ins for the grand finale. The development of our main characters have been significant, and once again, we can read each one being pushed to their limits and view our heroes and villains in a way, at least I would never have thought possible.
Transformers Unicron #2 gets an 8 out of 10.
The final pages gave me a chill.
