Pop Break Live: Maggie Rogers at The Hammerstein at The Manhattan Center in New York City
It is fitting that Maggie Rogers spent Friday night playing an absolutely sold out show at The Manhattan Center Hammerstein Ballroom- earlier that day she released tickets for two upcoming shows at Radio City Music Hall that sold out in under an hour. New York City loves her. I got to catch her a few months ago at The Garden opening for Mumford and Sons and I am calling it right now: this time next year she will be headlining there. No doubt.
The room was packed wall to wall, everyone waiting for Maggie to take the stage with her “witchy feminist rockstar” energy and once she did, she never stopped moving. Hair flips and high kicks as she belted through her setlist that every single person knew the words to.
Personally, I am a huge fan of Rogers. I tell everyone I know to listen to her record. It’s been amazing over the last few months to see her taking off like a rocket ship. And the thing about her is that if you follow her on social media or go to one of her shows, you can tell she is loving all of this, but also, she is thankful for it. It makes you want to root for her. It makes you want to be in the room with her. It makes you want to take that feeling and apply it to your own life.
If Maggie Rogers is coming to your town and somehow the show isn’t sold out, just go. Go. Don’t think about it, just go. Put on your dancing shoes, throw glitter on your face, and prepare for one of the best nights of your life. This is the last tour where you will be able to see her in a room any smaller than 15000 seats. She is on her way up, with absolutely no sign of slowing down.
