Pop Break Live: Phish Summer Tour 2019
BB&T Pavilion in Camden, New Jersey
June 28, 2019- Night 1 of 3
Words & Photos by Will Marks
Night one of a three-night run of Phish in Camden, New Jersey at the BB&T Pavilion got off to a rainy start with almost an hour torrential rain delay. People came running into the venue completely soaked but still loving every minute of the night! Once the show kicked off with “Set Your Soul Free,” you could tell that Trey, Mike, Fish, and Paige already deep into their summer tour, were ready to make it a night you wouldn’t forget!
The entire show was a great mix of both new and old songs from the Vermont based bands 36-year long career. Some of the highlights from the first set included an upbeat version of “Birds of a Feather” and a funky “Wolfman’s Brother” that were extremely well done and on point. Some of the second set highlights were newer songs including Treys recent solo creation, Ghosts of The Forest, “About To Run,” as well as the band’s cover of fictional Norwegian band Kasvot Vaxt’s “We Are Come To Outlive Our Brains.”
They wrapped up the show with encores of their fan favorite, Sleeping Monkey and a Bob Dylan cover of “Quinn The Eskimo.” Overall it was a great night of Phish for both fans old and new. Setting up to be a great weekend of shows in the New Jersey and Philadelphia areas.
