Stranger Things (Netflix – 2016-Present)

Now that there are approximately 574 different streaming services to choose from, I sometimes question how Netflix will remain relevant. But then I remember the jewel in Netflix’s streaming crown.

Stranger Things is arguably the most popular Netflix Original Series and has been such a phenomenon that it convinced this site’s Editor-in-Chief to start a subscription to the service. [Editor’s Note: This is factually correct.] While I was originally drawn in by the series’ roots in the works of Stephen King and Steven Spielberg, the show has since forged its own path that continues to leave this fan spellbound.

Its mix of sci-fi and coming-of-age elements make Stranger Things simultaneously captivating and endearing, and its distinct ’80s setting makes the series instantly nostalgic (even for those of us who didn’t live through that decade). And in a service defined by binge-watching, Stranger Things has mastered the art of the cliffhanger.

Considering the show’s strong word-of-mouth, the strangest thing would be if you haven’t watched this series yet.
