The latest episode of The 100 comes with a huge twist, one that reminds us the show is slowly coming to an end. Warning: there are major spoilers in this review.

In ‘A Little Sacrifice,’ we first catch up with Clarke (Eliza Taylor, Christmas Inheritance) and her crew while she still holds a gun to the Shepherd’s (John-Pyper Ferguson, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) head. Clarke makes a few demands, especially after seeing Octavia (Marie Avgeropoulos, 90210), Echo (Tasya Teles, Prison Break), and Diyoza (Ivana Miličević, Banshee) turned into Bardo Disciples.

Right after that, we find out that Echo was actually playing the Bardo leader so they’d believe she was a loyal soldier, when really she wants to destroy the place and everyone in it. Hope is glad to see Echo hasn’t betrayed her and wants to go along with the plan. Clarke, Raven (Lindsey Morgan, General Hospital), and Miller (Jarod Joseph, Arrow) try to talk to Octavia and Diyoza, and we get a cute reunion, when Hope interrupts and explains the plan that Echo rushed to give her. Hope also recognizes the others from the stories she was told as a child, which is sweet, but they have no time for that. The plan is in motion.

Back in the stone room, Niylah (Jessica Harmon, iZombie), Jordan (Shannon Kook, The Conjuring 2), and Gabriel (Chuku Modu, Captain Marvel) wait for the others. Gabriel leaves to go talk to the Shepherd, while Niylah and Jordan stare at the stone’s code. Jordan, using his ethnic background and knowledge from his father (shoutout to Monty), realizes that the code might have been read incorrectly in order to cater to what those on Bardo wanted to see. There might not be a “last war” after all. Gabriel’s conversation with the Shepherd, on the other hand, is tense and shows a crack in Gabriel’s armor. Could he become loyal to Bardo’s cause? Only time will tell.

We then discover Echo’s been torturing Levitt (Jason Diaz, Handmaid’s Tale), which is not surprising but a little disappointing. Octavia talks to him and tries to hear him out, but the group ultimately decides that this doesn’t involve him and Octavia apologizes before leaving him tied up. They head to the room with the bioweapon, the one Echo plans to use against all Bardoans and wipe them out, like they were wiped out once before in the past. Clarke tries to talk her down, but Raven is the one who’s able to, saying that she won’t leave and she’ll die with the Bardoans if Echo sets off the weapon. For a second, it seems like Raven’s about to die somehow, but instead Echo backs off.

Then, Anders (Neal McDonough, Captain America: The First Avenger) comes in, confiscates the piece that activates the weapon, and starts spouting a punishment. Only, Hope slices his throat right after and leaves him to bleed out. The next moment is utter chaos as the weapon’s piece falls and the characters move in slow motion. Hope grabs the weapon and runs to activate it, but Diyoza puts her hand out at the last moment, stopping the bioweapon from being spread across Bardo and sacrificing herself.

It’s sad to see Diyoza go. Although I expected it, it’s hard to see a force like her disappear from the show. However, it was an incredible closing for her, showing the ways she has redeemed herself over time and the lengths she’d go to for love. She tells Hope not to follow in her footsteps of destruction, and then she’s gone. It really sets the tone of what’s to come in the next few episodes, especially when we have to say goodbye to so many characters we love.

Back on Sanctum, things are getting way out of hand. Sheidheda (JR Bourne, Teen Wolf) is telling everyone to kneel or die and grounders are succumbing to his will. He also threatens Madi (Lola Flanery, Home Again) and smiles smugly when Indra (Adina Porter, American Horror Story) challenges him to a solo fight. Ugh. It does remind me of season three, though, when Lexa and Roan battled it out in Polis. Good times.

Indra and him prepare to fight, while Murphy and Emori protect Madi. The fight scene is something I was excited for. Indra’s a badass and it’s always exciting to see her fight, especially because Sheidheda is such a strong opponent. Their fight is a little difficult to see because it’s shot in a way that obstructs the view to a lot of the fighting. I wish we could’ve seen it all go down in a clearer way, but it’s still intense as Indra eventually is pinned under Sheidheda’s grasp. I really don’t want Indra to die, especially not by Sheidheda’s hand, so it’s a relief when Madi jumps out of nowhere and cuts his eye. But Indra, not wanting to sacrifice Madi’s life, tells everyone to kneel, just so they have time left to survive. Murphy and Emori have a few good moments of their own, and we get to see Murphy’s development come to light as he tries to help others survive along with himself.

I feel that ‘A Little Sacrifice’ is one of the season’s strongest, mostly because we get to see some action and the groups are back together again. It also has a great performance by Ivana Miličević as always, and a bittersweet farewell to Diyoza, one of the coolest characters on the show. Next week’s preview shows us Bellamy, alive like we all knew he was, and I can hardly wait to see what he’s been up to and see him reunite with the others. There are only so many episodes left for us to spend with these characters. and I’d love to see him back with the main crew again.

The 100 Season 7 Episode 10 ‘A Little Sacrifice’ is now streaming on The CW App.
