Welcome to TV Break, where Pop Break’s Podcasts Editor Alex Marcus is joined by editor-in-chief Bill Bodkin, and TV Columnist Josh Sarnecky to talk about the happenings in television.
Here’s the format of the show:
The Best Thing I Saw on TV Last Month – Alex, Bill, & Josh talk about a show/episode/event they liked from the last month including FX’s Shogun, Disney Plus’s X-Men ’97 and Bluey, Max’s The Girls on the Bus, and Prime Video’s Fallout.
News Break – Alex, Bill, and Josh react to the news that Amazon and Disney may have just boxed out Warner Bros. Discovery in the fight over NBA broadcast rights.
Streaming Wars – Alex, Bill, & Josh pick a streamer they think “won the month” based on new shows airing/upcoming shows announced etc. Bill & Alex both gave the month to Disney Plus on the back of its buzzy series like Shogun, X-Men ’97, Bluey, and Star Wars: The Bad Batch, and its successful Hulu integration.
Meanwhile, Josh gave it to Netflix, thanks to, among other things, the triumphant return of Is This Cake?.
New Series Spotlight – Alex, Bill, & Josh review Dead Boy Detectives, Netflix’s adaptation of the comic book characters created by Neil Gaiman & Matt Wagner. The series was created by Supernatural & The Flight Attendant writer Steve Yockey, and stars George Rexstrew and Jayden Revri as the titular Dead Boy Detectives and Kassius Nelson as their new psychic friend Crystal Palace.
