In EXORCIST II: THE HERETIC, bizarre nightmares plague Regan MacNeil (Linda Blair) four years after her possession and exorcism. Has the demon returned? And if so, can the combined faith and knowledge of a Vatican investigator (Richard Burton) and a research specialist (Louise Fletcher) free her from its grasp?
It is safe to say that The Exorcist II is the least liked of the entire series. The film has a good story to it, but it was put into the hands of the wrong people, who butchered the film with poor effects and hilariously awful dialogue. It is sad that one of the biggest horror flops could be made to follow one of the greatest horror films ever made. While many like to complain about the idea of film remakes, I doubt many horror fans would complain if this one was redone.
All of that being said, The Exorcist II can be enjoyable if you like those “so bad it’s fun” films. Besides, who doesn’t want to see James Earl Jones in a locust costume?
