bill bodkin and logan j. fowler look at the new film from seth macfarlane…
Theater, Rent, No Thanks, Undecided? Undecided. My own personal opinion is still out on whether I want to see Ted or not. It possibly looks like it could be a raunchy good time allowing Family Guy and American Dad creator Seth MacFarlane to cut loose from his television reigns with some extreme vulgarity and shock. However, the trailer has really done nothing for me for laughs, aside from the infamous Thunder song and Mark Wahlberg’s machine gun fire delivery of white trash names. Wahlberg has the ability to possibility steal the movie here from under MacFarlane’s nose (bear snout? I don’t know) maybe because he’s been the only thing I’ve dug about what I’ve seen. Oh yeah, Mila Kunis is in it too and she looks gorgeous, but obviously this movie is going to belong to frat boy and bear. If anything, most likely a rental. Hope the movie is more than bear-able (Ba dum tish). –LJF
Theater, Rent, No Thanks, Undecided? Theater. You had me at “Thunder Buddies for Life.” I understand that the plot for Ted will be highly predictable, I comprehend there’s going to be some cringe-inducing comedic moments, I get that we may well have seen the best moments of the film in the trailer…but I still want to see Ted. First off, if you saw The Other Guys, you know Mark Wahlberg can more than hold his own in the world of comedy, and from what I’ve seen from the trailers, I think he’ll be golden in Ted. Second, I’ve been a longtime Family Guy fan and while the show has become hit or miss recently, but I feel in this film he’ll have a little more freedom to let the raunch flag fly and I’m perfectly fine with that. And lastly, the ‘Thunder Buddies for Life’ scene? How can you not laugh? –BB
I feel like we haven’t seen the funniest bits in the trailer, if only because they can’t be shown on TV. This movie looks hilarious. Can’t wait to see it!
