Here’s what the film is about: Michael Keaton plays a washed up actor who was once an iconic superhero. He tries to gain relevance again by writing, directing, and starring in his own Broadway play. Everything seems to go wrong. On paper, this would be in my top three. Here’s the problem – the trailer concerns me. It looks like a guy desperately trying to do a Darren Aronofsky movie. The editing and camera shots look excruciatingly pretentious. Zach Galifianakis’ presence also concerns me. I want to get excited for this, but other than Keaton’s performance (which does look incredible), I’m nervous.
Oscar Alert! This could potentially get consideration for all major awards, but Keaton is the one to keep an eye. The idea of Michael Keaton winning an Oscar kicks ass.
