The Con Itself – Luke Kalamar
As a lover of television, movies, video games, and comics (who isn’t, really), I have always held big conventions in high regard. It’s when all the celebrities come out to meet their fans! Fans get to meet their idols! Awesomely exclusive swag is exchanged and big news is announced! Want to know more about your favorite show’s new season? Here is brand new footage presented by the stars themselves! It’s all so freaking cool. I follow coverage of events like Comic-Con (both New York and San Diego) and E3 pretty intensely. And I’ve always dreamed about attending these someday. I mean, I knew I would eventually (it’s not as challenging as my other bucket list items), but never knew “when.”
Since I am finally attending my very first Comic-Con, what I’m most excited about is the event itself. Yes, there are plenty of panels I cannot wait to go to, like The Walking Dead and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but the convention itself is what’s high on my mind. I’ve heard people talk about how much fun a Comic-Con is and now I’m finally witnessing it first hand. I can’t wait to see famous faces, mingle with fellow fans, and probably waste way too much money on some sweet merchandise. I never knew I needed a Marvel themed spatula before but holy crap is that Captain American flipping pancakes? How much? $50? Sold.
