2. Dwayne Johnson
Two words. Franchise. Viagra.
Those words are not mine. They are from G. I. Joe Retaliation director John M. Chu. If you want someone to breathe new life into your struggling franchise, Dwayne Johnson is the man to call. That means not only is he an over the hill action star but he is the action star for franchises that are past their prime. His early resume includes being a champion defensive tackle for the University of Miami, the face of the World Wrestling Federation (back when it was called that), and host of Saturday Night Live. The latter was what helped transition him into the action powerhouse you know and love. The rest is history.
He starred in The Scorpion King, Walking Tall, The Rundown, and Doom. He took some time to act in family comedies earning him the nickname Dwayne “The Rock”/“The Toothfairy” Johnson. Then he bulked up to levels that made ’90s Rock look like Chris Rock and started reinvigorating tired franchises like Fast and Furious and G. I. Joe. Look at what he has in the pipeline. He is going to play Black Adam in DC’s Shazam! feature. He will reprise his G. I. Joe and Fast and Furious roles for sequels. Disney even has him voicing a hero in their new animated Moana. At the age of 42, is doesn’t seem like The Rock will be done cooking anytime soon.
