First time I saw it: Opening Weekend on April 5th (in my Captain America T-Shirt, no less)

Importance in the Marvel Universe: Huge! Not only did Captain America: The Winter Soldier (spoilers ahead I guess) impact the Marvel Universe on the big screen, it had effects on the small screen in Agents of Shield too. Additionally, the beginning of Age of UItron deals with Hydra aftermath, which is a direct result of all of Cap’s adventures in the movies, specifically the sequel.

Why I Love it: There is no formula to follow here. Where as Thor: The Dark World, Guardians of the Galaxy, and the Avengers all have the heroes “looking for an item of other-wordly importance and try to stop it,” Captain America: The Winter Soldier break through said formula to completely dismantle the organization who set up The Avengers initiative in the first place. It’s original in its progression and also risky in it’s payoff-how will the universe deal with the events that happen? While Guardians was risky in general, it was only risky on the surface. The Winter Soldier is like an iceberg; there’s way more beneath the water that we have yet to discover.

Oh and this movie is directed by guys who shot episodes of Community, one of my favorite shows. That helps.

Best Moment: Ugh, so hard to pick. From the opening fight sequence on the boat to the Helicarrier mission at the end, and even with all the amazing stuff from Falcon (Anthony Mackie) in between, Captain America: The Winter Soldier has a endless well of great moments. However, the one I love above all is the fist fight between Cap (Chris Evans) and the Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) in the streets. The tension filled music, the hand-to-hand combat, the white knuckle atmosphere, and the realization of Cap’s newest enemy is just… perfection. Also, that scene where the Winter Soldier handles Cap’s shield is fantastic foreshadowing. Amazing. –Logan J. Fowler
