If you’ve never seen the film Audition, save this page, find it and watch it. It’s okay, I’ll wait. Now that you’re back, drenched in cold sweat at what you just saw, we can continue. What a film! I can’t say enough good things about how dark and gritty and brutal this film is. We have two people, Shigehura and Asami who are very attracted to one another. Shigehura says he will call her and thus, we wait. But so does she, in a dark room, alone, staring at the phone as if willing it to ring. If this didn’t send shivers down your spine, a bag in the background roars to life, flipping halfway across the room and making you wonder what the hell this girl is capable of. If you finished this film (and I hear a lot of people couldn’t) then you know the dark and excruciating ending.
